My 18 year old is staying at college 70 miles away with our 2008 Tacoma. He called with a check engine light on. I drove down last night and he had a P2440 – Switching Valve Stuck Open Bank 1. I erased it and he followed me home.

This morning I removed the hose at the bottom close to the fan and blew in. It allowed no air and what I saw is that might mean the fan is the problem.

    Asking if that sounds right?
Would it help to spray it all down if carb cleaner?
Is it right to go with a fan replacement or go on to the Hewitt mod, and if so does that sometimes cause a loss of power?
Does the 2008 go into limp mode if a code comes up?

Stuck open is almost always the valve, easiest way to check it is pull the main hose off between the valve and the pump with the engine running. If you feel exhaust coming out of the hose the valve is bad.
