Picking up an 05 for $8k with only 133k. Took it on a test drive today and owner has been running it for 2 years with this problem. When you slam on the brakes and then accelerate from a complete stop, the truck takes a couple seconds to engage then goes as normal. I didn't have time to do more testing but for the price I'm thinking it would be worth taking the gamble of just the solenoid needing replacement or just a transmission fluid drain.

I would love some insight if anyone has any so I can know what I'm getting my self into. I am a little worried that its been two years that they have been driving it with the problem, but they haven't seen the condition get worse. They bought it two years ago and the first owner put headers, exhaust, and all kinds of race style mods so I'm guessing he may have worked the transmission a little and possibly damaged it.

    Thanks!

Interesting. Is P2714 the code she gives you?

    Hmm..

Honestly it might just be easier to go ahead and replace that solenoid and be done with it

Hi everybody I have 2005 tacoma 4.0 liter long bed it has same problem I have talk to few people no about transmission. Few them tell me need to change transmission that one is bad. Someone told me no wait just change Solenoid on transmission person told me need change all them all (7 Total). If you change Only 1 Solenoid you can have problem in next 2 or 3 months is better to change them all and filter from oil need to be replaced. If not may need to open transmission up once more time.

Code P2714 that Check light is on Solenoid turn off. The person told me went computer send signal to Solenoid send it back computer wait there a problem.

I am still looking for my Solenoid my truck.

Did you find a solution? I have the same issue. Trans slips at times, here's and lunges at complete stops. I changed 2 different solenoids prior to the p2714 and some trans wires. Now they tell me I need a new trans. Not sure if I should try yo change the solenoid instead.
