Weight distribution is always an interesting variable - my 80 series is almost dead 50/50 and it’s AWD.

Still, Canadian tire did a 3rd party winter tire test in Sweden a couple years ago and guess which AT had a perfect score on ice (for the category, I assume)? The ko2. It beat out the heavily siped Cooper ATW and a host of others. That’s all compound, because we damn well know it’s not siping.

That’s why I took a bet on the ko2 aside from needing a 37”, which is scarce in ATs - Michelin has really advanced the studless winter tire balance of traction and treadlife in the xIce series, and in needing to take back share from the Duratrac it couldn’t just be a ko retread.

Here’s a pic from last Nov coming back from skiing. This is about as much black ice as you can get in Colorado.

077840AE-7DB7-4559-A1ED-49D14B413249.jpg C52F46D9-E2CE-4911-9E61-4ED0270F88B2.jpg I had the Falkens in the first pic and then took out the ko2 when I got home for some comparison in the second. I have a 14% grade nearby and stopped dead in the center to see if I could start again. Was able to with all three diffs locked on the ko2.

And here is the ko2 in deep compacted snow. The Falken has nowhere near as much forward pull.

    26E13BAA-965C-4B1C-B581-BC9E0829F4EF.jpg

And with 33K they are still at about 2/3 tread depth.

Having said that, I love the AT3W and the value is outrageous - just posting this for some comparative info. I just would be careful to not put the passenger vehicle model on a truck if I wanted them to last. That’s true of any AT.

Aight, those of you who owned the BFG, I live in Utah and need a new set of tires, really close to these AT3's instead for the price and they have the mountain snow rating. Any complaints from anyone?

    Good deal!
I paid $160 to have mine installed and balanced but I also had them dismount and remount the stock wheels so I could use my tpms in my methods.

yeih the first thing they said that they will only do it on stock wheels since there machine is calibrated for those and they will hate to scratch an aftermarket wheel. i use to hate those wheels until i put some vinyl on them.
