Installed a set of LT285/75r17 E or 34/11.5 17 on some FJ take offs this past weekend. Had a hard time deciding between these, ST Maxx or just sticking with the Cooper AT3. But wanted this size. ST Maxx was quite a bit more, especially since I need 5. I looked at several shots of half worn ST Maxx and didn't think I'd be satisfied with winter/ rain performance at that point.
Did some trimming, pounding, cutting and grinding to give good clearance. Waiting on clips to reinstall fender flares and liners. Installing LR UCA this weekend then alignment.
So far so good. A vibe I had went away with changing tires. No increase in road noise as compared to worn 265/75 16. Little bit of off roading and feel solid and sticky. No rain yet.
I have 6112 on 3rd notch in front, 2 in firm AAL with Fox 2.0 in rear. Swaybar stolen.

Satisfied so far. They look good on paper and in person.

Definitely heavier, but not as much as I was expecting though. I probably doubled my wheel/ tire weight and its is still very drive-able. I have the 6 spd manual so it helps with the hills and such. Breaking is diminished some but I have dimpled slotted rotors and EBC green pads so it still stops fine. I think the ride is smoother and just feels better than my worn AT3s but those had some bad feathering on the outside edge due to to me neglecting an alignment. Less body roll in the turns as well.
I will probably re-gear in the spring.

Worth it to me, truck is not an economy car. I live off a gravel road and commute to a small town. Would not want it this way if I was still in Denver or similar. But the re-gear would take care of that.
    Make sense?

That sucks, too bad torque isn't easier/ cheaper to aquire. Trade-offs get expensive. ECGS is the best route for us I believe. I do like the lower rpms. And first gear doesn't feel so aggressive now. 4.56 gears and a supercharger would be great! But gears are the better bang for buck by far.

Might have to get a set of these after I wear through my KM2s. I had a set of Falken All Seasons previously and thought they were pretty good

What's the difference between the SL and the LT versions. I like how the LT has more tread depth and a little larger diameter, but I don't like how it's 6lbs heavier per corner. I dont trailer much or haul things very often. Just want something durable for when i got off road.

Bah. I can't find any 285s instock anywhere. Definitely going with the Falkens though. Can't beat the price. 600$-700$ for these as opposed to 1,200 for my BFGs...

Good to know, the KM2s haven't let me down in any conditions yet but they're so damn loud

Yeah they are loud, I always get pedestrians to look back. I imagine they anticipate a military tank is rolling down the street!

I wasn't too fond of their on-road wet performance though!

I've put about a thousand miles on my P265 70 16's on my 2015 OR and I'm really happy with their wet and dry performance on the road. I went with the stock size/type as my truck is my DD and didn't want the extra weight. I'm glad I didn't upsize. Without the white lettering, these look plenty big for the Tacoma.

The A/T3W's make the truck feel much more planted on the road than the Rugged Trails and the hydroplane resistance is 100x better than the stock BFG's. I ran through some heavy storms locally and on a recent trip to the Smokies. Where I had to slow to 40-45mph on the Rugged Trails (even when new), I could maintain a higher speed with the Falkens. I haven't had a chance to try them in the mud yet.

They are slightly louder than my Rugged Trails with 40k miles around town, but are pretty quiet at highway speeds.

For those of you who ordered from DTD, did you purchase the certificates for refund replacement or repair? I know it's only like $70 extra but just wondering if it's really necessary. Thoughts? About to pull the trigger on these cant pass up the value
