Someone please convince me to buy these in a 285-70-17 over an ST Maxx in 255/80/17! Looking for performance reports, MPG, pictures, etc.

And yes, I've read almost everything possible about both tires. I just can't pick!

These look better and are less expensive. Equal performance.

I'm more worried about dropping MPG as I drive so much.

I would gladly trade an mpg or two for the look I really want. Plus the tires will last a long time if you take care of them. Money saved right there to make up for the lost mpg’s. Look....I’m trying to do what you asked for. Make a damn decision! :D

Dammit! Now I'm even more confused which set of tires I want. I've always ran pizza cutters and loved them...So this is going to be a huge change for me if I switch to a wide tire. I haven't found a single bad review on the Falkens though, where I have found many on the Coopers.

Best price I have found. Anyone know of a better price? Going to get it price matched by a tire shop near me. Screen Shot 2018-04-17 at 9.14.38 PM.jpg

My tire shop ordered them for $139 from their supplier. $149 is not a bad price.

Seriously. From what I’ve read, you’re not gonna take that big of a hit on MPG’s. Just find the right pressure for your rig.

It’s a local Baton Rouge shop that I like. It’s called Chabill’s. I believe they are only in my area.

I’m a big fan of these tires as a winter set. 10-ply 245,75R16 work very well in the snow and hauling past GVWR. Summer tires soon I’ll try and post up how much they wore.

I have 255/80r17 st maxx, theoretically a skinnier tire is better for mpg because of less road resistance. The st max are heavy tires. The mpg drop is going to be the same between them, both are heavy and you will notice power loss and increase stoping distance.

That being said, I love my st maxx for off road but I have a pull to the right that the shop can’t get aligned. I have 30,000 on my tires and wearing well. My next set will be woldpeak 285 75 17
