Does it also have the peak with the snowflake in it? The E series do, but not sure about the SLs?

I read this thread nearly in its entirety agonizing about these tires, so doing my duty in sharing my experience. In the end I went with 265/75/16s E class. I’ve had them for 2.5 weeks now. In order of frequency, I drive on city and highway roads, winter snow, and moderate to rough off-road to get to mountain and desert trailheads in Colorado and around the west.

Why did I go E class? 1) 2 of the 3 sets of tires on this truck have been E class with no issues. 2) Most of the posts by people having issues with the Wildpeak appear to be P. 3) The E class Wildpeaks have 4/32” more tread for just a little more cash and the peace of mind of greater durability.

Got them through DT and mounted on some 2018 off road rims. They look great! Mileage went down on first tank about 1.5 mpg. Just topped a half tank and it’s creeping back up - 17.8 mpg city/ highway. Average for the past six months has been 18.1 and a best of 21.6. No issues with acceleration or braking. No issues with balance, vibration or road noise. The ride is stiffer as I had P rated Firestone Destination AT’s last round (disappointing tire), but these Wildpeaks feel solid and sure footed. Not getting my teeth rattled as some describe. Also this truck has Bilstein 5100’s all around as well as the TSB leaf spring addition.

All in all super happy with this tire. Road trip ahead will provide more info on highway mpg as well as some off road.

I recommend this tire in E class and the 265/75 looks and handles great.

That's helpful. I have always used BFGs, both the old KOs and the new KO2s E series on Tacomas and never had issues, except the KO2s are not the best in the rain. I'm ordering a 2019 Pro and have been looking for something different. I'd be interested to see how they work in heavy rain, which we get during the monsoon in NM. Also looking at the Coopers.

From the very helpful folks from Discount Tire regarding Cooper AT3 vs. Falken AT3W. I don’t think they would mind me posting this.

We have 3rd party test data that does controlled tests for stopping distance in both wet and dry as well as comfort and handling.

In a braking test from 60 to zero in wet climate:

Cooper Discoverer AT3 stopped in 191 feet
Falken Wildpeak A/T3W stopped in 164 feet

In a braking test from 60 to zero in dry climate:

Cooper Discoverer AT3 stopped in 146 feet
Falken Wildpeak A/T3W stopped in 126 feet

For Winter rating using 5 as the best, they are both 4 out of 5

For handling with 5 being the best they are both 4.5 out of 5

For quiet ride with 5 being the best, they are both 4 out of 5

For comfort ride with 5 being the best:

Cooper Discoverer AT3 scored 3 out of 5
Falken Wildpeak A/T3W scored 3.5 out of 5

I have about 500 Miles on the Wildpeaks so far, my initial impression compared to the Factory Goodyears: Noise is very similar, gas mileage is not much difference either, ride is actually better over washboard surfaces, handling is improved, they balanced fine and have no weird vibes, and if future tread wear is good then I will purchase again.

I wish they made a C load range with the deeper tread design in 265/75/16 but I saw the standard loads today and they looked good to me. Im on the fence between these and Duratracs. Either would likely be fine but my stock tires have got to go. I have too much red clay to contend with.

These Wildpeaks have 13/32 of tread so pretty good, they also look so much better in person than they do in pictures. Sounds like you will be good to go with either choice over the stock Goodyears.

I was very pleasantly surprised when I saw them in person. Much more aggressive.

Not going to bash on the tires but this is what happened to me. Not sure if it’s the tire centers fault or the tire. I had my LT265/75r16s dismounted with 8k miles. This is what happened.

Just pulled the trigger on a set of 265/70/R17’s SL. They are going on a set of FJ cruiser 6 spokes. Many thanks to Don at DTD for making it easy. Of course there will be pictures to follow.
