I went from 265 - 285. Super stoked for them! How do you like them so far? Any balance issues?

Ya, took a couple times to balance properly, but it feels like a better ride than my KO2's by far. I kick myself for not just going straight to 285's, do you have to cut at all in order to avoid rubbing? I'm okay with cutting, but jw.

Not sure about the cutting yet, I get them tomorrow and I'll have them installed this week. I'll get back to you. I'm at about 2.5" of lift up front FYI.

I think that people that get ones that balance, really like them. I liked the ride, just didn't balance, but I could have tried harder. Just didn't have time for multiple trips

Update: I just got them installed today and they are absolutely fantastic so far! (trip from discount tire to home, haha!) I did a little trimming to my front bumper to adjust the clearance on the driver side. I previously cut them to fit the 265-70-17's before I lifted it. bottom line: If you have an aftermarket bumper or cut the inside corners of the bumper and take the flaps off, you should be fine. During my online search, the 4 ply tires are about .5" less in diameter than the 10 ply.

Ordered my 255/80/17’s! Will see how they pan out on my 4Runner Pro’s under the new 5100/885’s and RXT spring setup. Report back later

Nearly a year and half later, I must say the tires have been outstanding so far. Considering putting these on my wife's 4runner when the stockers wear out.

After several months of winter and a lot of snow driving, and approx 7k miles, I feel comfortable to give a full review of my SL rated tires..

    - Not loud at all. No louder than stock that I can perceive
    - MPG went from 22.5 avg with stock tires to 20 avg with these.
    - Do fine in rain
    - They do pretty well in Snow, mostly good enough for me because I know how to slow down and drive appropriate for conditions.. They aren't remotely close to snow tires though, and what I mean by that is I can always feel where the limit of these tires are and have to slow down more than i'd like. Traction isn't the problem, its braking. Their weakness is slush, where they feel like they are hydroplaning (slushoplaning?). When there is snow on it, I still have to engage 4x4 to get up my driveway most of the time whereas in past vehicles with snow tires I only ever had issue on glare ice. When I engage 4x4 though i've never remotely even come close to being stuck, even when moving over 12 inches of unplowed snow.
    - Wear seems to be very good so far. Don't have an exact measurement though

I'm pretty impressed. Considering i paid less than $375 these have been stellar. Snow performance has been what I expected. Depending on treadwear I may strongly consider snow tires next winter, I am not sure. These just feel a little loose at times in snow and that makes my butt pucker considering the poor quality of plowing and the roads where I do the bulk of my driving (Nothing like coming up on a road that was flat the last time you drove it but now it has massive frost heaves and is covered in ice and snow).

Pine State, what size did you go with? 2.5 mpg is pretty significant, but 20 still isn’t bad.

We do not sell "blemished" or "second run" (not sure that's an actual term) tires and I'm pretty certain retailers that do have to specify as much in the description.

I figured I would give a little update on mine. Had them for about 2.5 years now and they are the SL 265/70/17. Manufacturing dates range from 21/16 through 29/16. All made in Thailand.

    -Roughly 25,000 miles on them.
-Just measured 9/32nds all around this morning.
-I do rotate every 5k miles but I think I did a 10k rotation once.
-Never had the bad smell that some have reported and never had balancing issues either.
    - edited - they do seem a little louder since hitting 20k. Nothing obnoxious but louder than when they were new.

They still perform very well in the rain. I was / am still impressed with them in the snow and ice. I've only had to use 4wd a handful of times this year which ironically was me trying to go up my driveway (slight incline) before I snowplowed the driveway. And it was mostly due to the ice and slush under the snow which caused issues. Overall, I still feel confident driving in the snow with these tires when I have to travel to clients all around the city and Suburbs (of Chicago) which are sometimes an 1-1.5 hours away. I do have a topper on the truck now, which really helps with traction. I had two 60lb sandbags in the bed prior to the topper.

I would probably buy again and it's not because I love or hate them. It's because my heart and gut tells me to go Michelin next since I do mostly highway driving.

Has anyone put the SL sidewalls to the test off road? I have two main problems with my consideration these tires:

First is the E sidewall 265/75/16 weighing over 55lbs, which is almost the same as the 255/85/16's I decided against due to weight.
Second is the lower beginning tread depth of the SL sidewall model, why can't they have this tire in a C load?

Have you looked at their C Load tire weights? Not as light as you might think...

So two weeks on my 245/75r16's and I'm now barely getting 17mpg if it stays around that my Tacoma days may be numbered, only reason I bought Tacoma instead of tundra was gas mileage, I know I put a little heavier tire on but the factory hankooks sucked, and had 38k on them. But the 3.5 and the gearing just can't keep me at 80mph on the highway without being in 5th most of the time and 4th on hills pulling 3500 rpms. I had a 2010 tundra and if I can keep my foot out of it I could get 16-17mpg, plus with the 5.7 torque the trans was not constantly kicking down. May try to wait until 2020 models come out so I can get android auto.
