Looks gorgeous out there. Are these from last winter? Wheeling in snow is fun.

Yup! Snow wheeling is great because tame trails or even paved roads like the one in the video can become a blast and in some cases challenging. I'm so looking forward to getting stuck and freezing my butt off on some snowy trail this winter. :help:

My Wildpeaks are great in snow and ice. They perform like a dedicated snow tire. 45,000 miles they are completely worn out.

This shouldn’t surprise anyone who runs winter tires in a snowy, sub-freezing climate. Winter tires are gummy, the compound stays supple no matter how crazy the temps get. Wildpeaks were decent the winter I ran them through, but I tell ya, with my GSI5 tires my ABS kicks on 80% less

What load range? Would that really matter? Thinking SL to keep weight low.

SLs last winter. With the silica compound they rip better in wet conditions than the LT versions. However, the LTs have deeper tread which may be beneficial in deep snow and is definitely better offroad. For mostly street driven I'd go SL all the way.

I now have the same size but in Load Range E. They did great driving through a freak snow storm last May from Nevada to Moab but I haven't played with them in real snow yet to know how they compare to the SLs.

Does anyone happen to have front/rear facing photos of 285/70/17 with 4.5 backspace wheel and 1.25 spidertrax spacers so I can see how much the tires poke out past the fender?

Got the OEM size over the weekend after DT were able to price match. Had vibration driving past 70. Took it to a different DT to rebalance and they said the tires were way out of balance and the first DT need to recalibrate their machine...so that got my hopes up. Drove it and now it's good until about 75 then it vibrates again. 500 miles on the tires so far. Do all DT have a Road Force? That might be my last attempt before I start thinking about returning them. All 4 tires have the yellow dot aligned with the valve stem. They were at 38 PSI and I lowered to 32 since that's what I was running with the stock Goodyear. Truck doesn't feel as stable compare to the stock Goodyears when I hit potholes or any bumps on the highway but I still like the tires overall. I'd hate to return these since they're quiet for an all terrain and my highway MPG stayed the same. The other option is Duratracs, which weighs more, cost more, louder tire, and not as good in snow.

Anyone prefer these to KO2 or Toyo At in a 285?

Seems like the Wildpeaks 255/70/16 might be my Goldilocks tire for my Taco? Snowflake for the 5 months of snow (snowing now) and XL 6-ply for the rocky Forest Service roads here in CO. I'm down to these or Cooper Discos AT3 4S or AT3 LT. Any thoughts about these choices out there in TW?

I’m a fan of the Coopers can’t really go wrong with them and made in the USA. LT has the higher payload, I believe the 4s is just the p-metric but might have the XL rating which is an in between P and E load tires.

Falkens have weird quality issues that pop up so there’s been random accelerated wear problems (I was one of them). They were decent in the snow, really good for an AT tire but not so much to a dedicated snow time

The Cooper 4S XL version comes in 245/70/16 only, the rest of the 16s are in SL only. Is XL roughly equivalent to 6 ply?

Has anyone made a direct switch from the 265/70/17 SL Wildpeaks to the 275/70/17 LT version? Just curious because there is a 10 lbs weight difference between the tires, yet both are listed as being the same width at 10.8 inches. I'd want to make sure I was actually getting a noticeably bigger tire if I'm going to add that much rotating weight haha.

I've driven them for about 600 miles, they are working out pretty well so far. They are quiet, good on wet pavement and dirt/gravel/ rock roads.
No balancing issues, but I noticed when the tires are real cold, below 30°F, I have some vibration at 50mph and up until the tires warm up.
The yellow dots are on the valve stems.

Depending what load range you have this seems to be the rub on Wildpeaks, tire vibration. Quality control is lacking on these tires. It took several times before I got a acceptable set that only had a slight vibration at hwy speeds. Mine are also worn out after 30K. Will not be buying again.

The E-load KO2 will have a tougher sidewall and be more puncture resistant. That's about the only thing I prefer about the KO2 vs the LT Wildpeak.
