Finally got to toss mine on
285/70/17 E-rated. Just rolling out of the shop is a night and day difference from the Mastercraft mud terrains I had before

Starting to see a little chunking and lots of thin slices in the tread. I'm not sure how many miles I have on them but likely under 10k and they see a lot of trail abuse. These small slices will most likely lead to chunking.

Purchased a set of Falken Wildpeak AT3W tires in size 265/70R/16 for my 2009 Tacoma two days ago. Had them do a complete four wheel alignment also. They are just as quiet as the Michelin’s they replaced, and the truck seems to handle tighter. So far, I am very pleased. They were inexpensive, also, compared to what I paid for the Michelin’s six years ago. As to mileage wear, I am only looking to keep them for three or four years at most, and I don’t drive as far any more now that I am retired. So for me, a win.

I’m looking to purchase 5 of the wildpeak 265/70/17 on Amazon. The 115T is $120 a tire. The 121S is $174 per tire. I’ve searched the difference between the 2 ratings but am still confused. I have a 3rd gen sport 4x4. Any advise on which one to buy?

Do you run difficult trails often where you need better puncture resistance and a little better traction? If so get the LT

If you're mostly street driven with occassional forest service roads and or snow then get the P-metric which has better wet/snow traction, is lighter and rides softer.

that makes a little more sense. Thank you. I don’t go crazy on the trails but I do like to take it on rocky rocks once or twice a year. I think the stock sport tires did fine. The BFG MT’s does great but I absolutely hate the on road noise.

Sounds like the P-metric (SL) tires will do just fine for you assuming you don't treat them like a fully armored mud terrain. Just air down appropriately for the trail conditions and choose good lines and you'll be fine. I tell everyone to carry a tire plug kit and a spare tire at all times.

Loved these tires on my 2017 tacoma, so i got them in 285s for my 2019 4runner. Great tires. I got the SL rated tires to save a bit of weight. Balanced up without a problem and they ride great.

Shout out to Don at @Discount Tire for the help getting them! Pleasure working with ya.

Wheels and Tires: 17x8" Ultra Goliath wheels with P285/70R17 Falken Wildpeak AT3/W tires, Suspension: Fox coilovers set at 2", TC UCA's, 1.5" lift 3 leaf pack with overload left in Other: TRD SS exhaust, Pioneer AVIC 4100 H/U with Android Auto (awesomeness), sat radio bluetooth, Accessories: Toyota roof rack, black Toyota running board steps, cargo divider, weathertech floor liners, Literider roll up soft tonneau, thule bars over tonneau, USB ports front and rear, seat heaters, birddawg mirror riser Cosmetic: window tint, grillcraft black mesh upper/lower grill, vinyl armrest in doors, Clazzio black seat covers with blue stitch, Redline steering wheel wrap Lighting: fogs only mod, back up lights, amber interior accent lighting, amber 10" LED light bar in hood scoop, 33" LED bar behind the lower grill, amber lamin-x on fog lights, Tacomabeast headlights and matching tails.
Tread life review: 21 months and 30,000 mile update on P285/75R17's used for DD. New:14/32 tread depth. Current: 9/32 tread depth. So that's about 6,000 miles per 1/32. Extrapolating out another 18,000 miles to 48,000 a year from now should be at 6/32. And 5/32 at 54,000 miles. These are rotated every 5,000 miles. Excellent tire for the money and will be purchasing again. Expect to replace before next winter.

So far, these tires are awesome. Truck handles much better, it feels tighter, and these tires are great in the rain. I will let you know about snow when we get some.

Took my truck in last week to have my tires rotated and found out I had a 2" nail embedded all the way though the thickest part of my tread. I ended up getting 2 new 265 75 R16's and they ride as smooth as glass. No vibration at highway speeds.

I however wasn't impressed with tread wear. They were about at half tread depth at 20k miles after 2 years.

I love these tires for their price point as well as their grip in unfavorable conditions (heavy snow, sleet, slush, and rain) as well as their looks....but when the time comes to replace the full set, I will bet going with something that has a bit more tread life.

Does this cracking seem 'normal' for only having these tires on my truck for not even 2 years? Cracking between the tread and some on the sidewall Maybe 20k miles

What kind of mpg hit will I take putting these (265/70/17) on a stock OR? I know they’re a heavier tire, but I need a good tire for Colorado.

    Pros:
Selection between better winter compound (non-LT sizes) and better tread depth (LT sizes).

    Cons:
Tread wear on the winter compound is super fast.
