The information for the 255/80 is correct as well. Originally my intent was to have our warehouse weigh the tires and provide photos, unfortunately we do not have them in stock at the moment. I apologize for not elaborating a bit further in the prior post.

Although in most cases a larger tire should/would weight more, especially if its a higher load rating, that's not always the case. There are situations where a tire manufacturer will need to use more material to obtain a certain quality they are looking for, such as chip and chunk resistance or sidewall integrity. This is a Falken tire as well but there are cases in other manufacturers, but for example:

    upload_2020-9-30_10-23-14.jpg

In this case it is the exact same size 285/70R17 so there is no size difference, however the C version is 4 pound heavier. This was done so the 285/70R17 could be used as an OE tire for a vehicle, but in order to do that, they had to meet a certain criteria so they needed more material in the tire.

In the situation of size changes. Also keep in mind the complete surface area of the tire, although the 255 is taller than the 275 by .45" on each sidewall, the 275 is .79" wider.

aww poop I missed the flash sale on the AT3's. I have a set of 4 235/85/16s in my cart, would have bumped that up to 5 for matching spare.

Man the 285 C load Falken is 10 pounds heavier than the KO2 285 in C load, good to know. I thought they were closer in weight.

Right. It makes me wonder what type of contract $$$ Falken is getting from a car manufacturer to make a heavier tire in a less capable load o_O

When I bought my falkens with the flash sale this Monday. Adding a 5th meant $151 more to my total. So it’s smarter to just buy the 4 for a 3% less per tire.

    for example. Since I bought 4 it’s....
151x4-100=504. But with the 5th tire it’s 151x4-100=504+151=new price. It increases the cost of each tire by roughly 6 bucks even with the $100 off

Happy Saturday y'all! Mine got delivered today. And I can attest (like many others have before me) that these are wayyy more aggressive looking in person than in pics. Thanks for the flash sale @Discount Tire!

I work for Sumitomo, the company that produces the Wildpeaks. There’s a lot that go into tires and all the components vary. I happen to work in the motorcycle dept not the PCR dept. However we still build OE and replacement tires. Sometimes in a OE tire they will use different plys, apex, perhaps a wrapped bead, and maybe a slightly modified tread. Also the compounds could vary slightly. This all adds to weight savings or gains. so while the finish product may look identical, the construction could vary.

Also the size difference between the two makes a difference. The circumference and diameter is different but so is also the width. Most of the weight comes from the tread and that width certainly will add some extra weight. Again I’m not sure in those particular tires of all the components and compounds are the same but if so, the extra weight in the C load is probably from the tread.

Tires on the left, 85,000kms (53,000 miles) mixed highway and gravel roads, tires on the right, my second brand new set of 265/70r17.
Without a good discount retailer like PMC tires I couldn't find a decent set of truck tires for lest than $1,400cdn, snagged these for $850 to my door. Stupid Canadian overpriced tire tax!

Got them put on the other day. 265/70/17 currently set at 34 PSI but will be trying out several configurations.
