So these came on the truck I just bought and they are pretty noisy on the highway. Has that been your experience? Does adjusting the tire pressure help at all?

So it sounds like 265/70R17 (on size up from stock on the Sport) is a pretty common tire size, but I’m starting to second guess. The tire is actually larger than I expected (get a little rub), and the fuel mileage hit is also more than expected...granted some of that is just due to the size/decreased revolution number. Even so, wondering if I made a mistake. Should I have just gone with 265/65R17s? Anyone with experience on those, which are an XL rated tire?

Wasn’t planning on a lift, but feeling like a lift will almost be necessary with these tires. Anyone else have any buyer’s remorse, or am I just overthinking this?

You are probably just rubbing on the front mud flap. If so, you could remove the front flaps. I had those rims and same size KO2's on my 2016 without any rub. I did not have mud flaps on it though.

Hey guys, I’m usually a lurker on forums but wanted to give my feedback. I’m new to the Tacoma world but have always loved Toyota’s. My other truck is a 2004 Silverado and I’ve run two sets of Nitto Trail Grapplers for about 150,000 miles. I recently transitioned out of the mud tire to the Nitto Ridge Grappler. I’m only sharing to give some background to where my head has been. Mud terrain and the aggressive look is/has been very important to me. As I get older and transition to the more practical setup I struggle back and forth between practical, what I really need, and what I feel looks the best. The transition to practical/responsible/grownup setup has been a constant back and forth challenge for me.

I had reservations about the Falken Wildpeak AT3W. There’s a ton of information out there with mostly good/great reviews. My personal dilemma was between 265/70/17 or 285/70/17 and SL or LT sidewall. My reservations were are the sidewalls on the SL as aggressive looking as the LT? Is the tread depth difference between the SL and LT going to change how aggressive it looks? For me, the 265/70/17 in the SL rating is most practical, so thats what I ended up with. Let me say to anyone with these reservations, the sidewall looks awesome in person! I’ve read it a ton on this forum but I still had reservations until they showed up. They look great! Another reservation I had was 265s not being big enough. 265s are more than enough if you’re looking to stay factory height or level the front with the back. My truck is still factory height but I’m waiting for my Bilstein 6112/5160s to ship. I will lift the front 1” to level with the back.

I do have a slight rub at factory height with the 265/70/17. It’s minimal and only plastic. A heat gun to remold the plastic would be enough to eliminate the rubbing. Personally, I’m just going to deal with it until my Bilsteins arrive.

I reached out to Matt at @discounttire on this forum. He was super helpful and shared all the information I needed to make my decision. The purchase was a very smooth transaction and my tires arrived in just a couple of days. Great guy to do business with!

Overall, I couldn’t been happier with my decision. The 265s in SL rating give an aggressive look without the big hit to MPG or having to cut the truck up.

    Here’s a couple pictures of my setup. Ray10 17x8.5 -10, 265/70/17.

Yeah, think it’s just the flaps when taking a tight turn on an incline. However, want to keep the flaps if I can to prevent chips, etc.

Looks good. Agree that the 265/70R17 in SL rating are plenty aggressive looking. What MPG change did you see? Seems like I’ve taken an immediate 2 MPG hit. Is that just the way it is?

265/75R16 Wildpeak AT3W, Softopper, Kicker speakers, shift knob, Ventvisors, Tint, Husky Weatherbeaters, Hondo Garage radio knobs. The to do list: Bilstein 6112/5160, 3 leaf add-a-leafs, lights, alu skid, PRP seat covers...
I drive mostly 2 lane back roads and highway. I've dropped 10% in fuel economy (about 40 miles per tank). They feel squishy (compared to LT's) and because of the tread design you cannot get the side lugs to "point" forward on the driver side (OCD).

I maxed out the "cool" PSI and they got more sidewall flex than I like, which I think contributes to the drop in fuel economy. I don't do any hardcore wheeling, just gravel roads and hunting/atv access.

Like I mentioned, they aren't a bad tire, I just don't care for them. Its all personal preference. I ordered my usual LT's and these will be available if anyone is around that wants them for cheaper than you can get these basically new anywhere.

I’ve got them on a stock suspension 2017 sport in 265-70/17 and have no issues running that I’m aware of. I don’t have mud flaps, but I’m about to add RekGen flaps this weekend and I’ll let y’all know if you’re curious about rubbing. My MPG went from 21 to 19 immediately but I’m okay with it. They look great and do great in all weather

My truck would look identical to this if I pull the trigger on T4R SEMA wheels. Possible to get a shot from the front to see how the stance looks??

I was lucky to see 19 with my stock tires. Drifting into the 16s now. That’s what I was getting in my Tundra.

Looks great! It looks to me like they sit basically flush with the fender flares?

Like to thank @Discount Tire for getting my tires on and being awesome. The order process was amazing! They price matched Walmart and actually beat their price. The tires came in like 2 days and they had us installed and ready to go in less than an hour. Great location in St Joe Missouri. Recommend those guys! Don't cheap out and go with Walmart. Ordered from them and had to wait 2 weeks then they lost my order. Once I got there everyone was lost, they canceled my appointment 5 min before I got there and had no idea what I was talking about.

Just got off the phone with Falken, they have an RT tire coming out late next year. Should be pretty cool!

Yeah, think that’s about right. Maybe just the slightest poke, but not bad at all.

Also, took the flaps off as some recommended and seems to have taken care of the minor rub I was having. Think it looks cleaner without those, too.

Just pulled the trigger on a set of these in 265/70r17. I’d like to think my truck came out perfect! I wanted 285’s but didn’t want to deal with rubbing and having to cut so I played it safe. I can’t wait to try these out in the snow!!!
