$130 just over 3 years ago. They have really gone up in price but overall have been a very good tire.

I run 33" Falkens on the Wrangler and really like them so I thought I'd try them on the Tacoma. Ordered 265/70/17 SL's tonight.

Did you go with SL or E rated? Any difference in ride quality to stock?

Hi, sorry in advance for the dumb question. I just put on some SL 265/70/17 wildpeaks and am surprised by the amount of road noise. Everyone seems to go on and on about how quiet they are. Mine howl pretty good.

They do seem to be well balanced, no unusual vibrations.

I hear adding tire pressure can help a little, but if (my use of) the calculator is right these SL’s should be at like 29 cold. I think I’m at 34 already.

I’m not experienced with aggressive tires like this (first truck), but they are significantly louder than the stock tires to my ear. Is there anything I can look into?

    Thanks!

To me, these are NOT aggressive tires at all. These tires are a pretty sedate all terrain and that's why they are popular for daily drivers.

You say you just got them, after you've driven them about 1000 miles or so they will settle down in my experience. Give it a little time to wear down some. Then again, you will probably find they get loud again later on in their lifespan, so the choice of an all terrain may not be a good one for you. You are going from a highway tire to a mild all terrain, they will be noisier no matter what.

It's like people complaining about gas mileage, no one buys a 4x4 for the good gas mileage haha. If you want good gas mileage go buy a prius.
If all you want is a quiet tire with good road manners, go back to the highway tire.

Thanks, that’s reassuring. I’ll deal with the noise, understanding that it’s normal. No way I’m going back, truck looks mean now! Lol

Not surprised. A year ago 265/75/16's were $135 & now $190. Thanks again COVID

Prices would of jumped without covid. But covid certainly played a big role. Just in added labor cost this year the plant will be paying an extra ~70k a day. Cost of living goes up, wages go up, materials everything in between is inflated. Then the distributors raise their rates to adjust not only the added cost, but the added costs they face within their own daily business as well. So In the end it’s pretty much all passed to the consumer.

Prices would never have jumped 40% on any other year....bottom line is COVID and it's wide-reaching impact on the global supply and workforce is the significant factor here.

Well looks like I've got some 265/75/16s on the way from DTD. I was on the fence between the Wildpeaks and the Toyo Open Country AT3s, leaning towards the Toyos. But apparently they are backordered with unknown ETA, so Wildpeak it is. Mounting on some Vision M2 Overlands, should be a massive upgrade from the stock steelies and Firestone Destinations currently on my truck. We get a metric fuck ton of lake effect snow here, so I'll definitely be putting them through the paces this winter.

Anyone looking for the toyos should check eBay. 4 brand new tires from tires easy are $834 shipped in 265 75 16 load range E. I had my tires in 2 days.

I now have 20,000km (~12.5k miles) on my SL Wildpeaks in 265/75R16. From the original 13/32nds I'm now sitting at 9/32s which means a predicted lifetime of 45,000km if you consider 4/32nds a minimum safe tread. Realistically I'll probably swap them out well before this as I expect grip levels off-road to drop off as they wear more.

My truck sees quite a few rocky trails and loads of dirt roads. But realistically probably a 70/30 split between on and off-road.

I believe you are in Canada? If you have any trouble with your tire seller, let us know so we can make sure the warranty process is smooth between you and the seller.

Thank you for the feedback on the tires.

I am in Canada, to be clear I wasn't complaining or saying there's anything wrong with the wear I'm seeing. I knew what I was getting into running a P metric tire offroad, and I'm probably abusing them more than your average buyer would. I'm more attempting to provide a data point rather than the more subjective feedback that typically gets posted in tire review threads. I'm actually quite happy with them, they've held up extremely well all things considered!

I think a usable tread life of ~50% of the warranty is pretty good for a truck doing lots of rocky trails and running close to GVWR. My numbers also assume linear wear which who knows whether that'll actually be the case.

Got a set of these recently and impressed so far with traction on sand/rock & being quite on the pavement.

Can't wait to try them in the snow.
