    Detailed review follows:

I too like most in this thread found these tires very appealing to the eye and the wallet both. My mastercrap a/t's were unevenly worn and balding from the previous owner and I was in the market so I got these because of the previous reviews and I often root for the underdog/un popular product.

    245/75r16 upgraded to a 285/75r16
    14102337_10154502434209791_5191242968527656594_n.jpg 20160917_201711.jpg

I'm at 1,700 miles and couldn't be happier with them, A drastic change from old to new tires. I bought them from @Discount Tire Direct and worked with them over the phone for the right option for my needs and they were extremely helpful. Not only was their price the best but their experience and expertise in off road demands were fantastic. I ordered them mounted on level 8 trackers and shipped to my door for $1,140 total (tires and rims) with all the necessary hardware. upgrading to a 32.8'' tire I had to give the front fenders a little love on my first gen but now all is well and nobody could tell the difference. I know that most here are concerned with tread life and for me it is a non issue. For the price of the tires and with the 55k mile warranty I couldn't care less if they only lasted 25k because I'd be getting the cash into the next set of tires and I'm not out any money. The only negative to that is having to get tires mounted more often but is that really such a large deciding factor on tires? I don't think so.

Now on to tire qualities that actually matter, my own rating 1-5 with explanation
1=unsafe and will cause an accident, equivalent to a tire with nail in it
2=very poor traction and no confidence in ability to stop within legal requirements
3=mediocre traction, gets the job done but not total trust in emergency circumstances
4=good traction, feeling safe while stopping and tight cornering
5= superb traction and function in all conditions the tire was designed for. Exceeds beyond expectation.

    Asphalt:5
wet - I've had to come to emergency stop from vehicles pulling out in front of me in the rain and didn't slip a bit. Very happy with that.
dry - very comfortable taking exit ramps at fast car speeds and never breaking loose. The body roll makes me more uncomfortable than loosing traction.
noise - road manners are great, quieter than previous tires and barely heard. There is a little low hum while corning hard from the side lugs grabbing the road a little but it is actually a pleasing sound, not loud at all. Giving the right amount of gas while making a 90* turn can break the inside tire loose and the "burn out" sound is low pitched and appealing if you like that sort of thing.

    Concrete (highway):5
wet - no hydroplaning, equal to asphalt traction so far
dry - nothing outstanding to report
noise - a little more noise than asphalt because of road texture but by no means annoyingly loud

    gravel:4

does pick up some rocks every now and then but will eventually loose them

    Mud:5
I can only speak for 3-5'' deep mud, nothing very thick or super deep. These did just as well as M/T's I have been with on muddy steep hills up and down.

    Dirt/sand:4
no experience in deep loose sand yet but pretty good dirt road traction, but its dirt so not hard to lose traction with enough pressure on either pedal

    Rock crawling:4 @20psi
other reviews claimed that these are excellent on rock but I have only been in a rock garden once with these and they didn't quite wow me. The traction was there and pretty good but I did have some sliding issues with my sipes filled with wet sand and that could be why I was having a little slipping. After more experience I may bump it up.

    Snow: TBD

    Ice: TBD

These tires are awesome so far and I have no doubt they will be great until bald, however many miles that takes.

I mounted up my SCS Ray10 wheels and 265/70/17 Falken AT3W tires today. They look great and I've already been receiving compliments on the wheel/tire set-up on my 2006 4Runner. Aesthetics are subjective of course, but I'd say they look as good as KO2 or Duratracs. Very handsome aggressive design.

In terms of road manners after 50 miles or so...

1.) Very quiet on the road. I cannot tell in any way that there's an all-terrain tire on there by the road noise. This is excellent news because road noise for a daily driver was a big concern of mine.

2.) They balanced out just fine and feel smooth on the highway.

3.) They wander just a hair more on the highway compared to my Pirelli Scorpion Verde highway tires (granted those were 20" wheels with a much shorter 50 series sidewall, so it's not exactly apples to apples comparison). I'll probably get used to this after a few days but I am having to correct slightly more than I had to do previously. Not a big deal.

4.) Traction is good, wet or dry (it's raining here in the Bay Area so I got to take the tires through some heavy rain already).

5.) The only complaint I've seen about these tires so far is tread wear. Based on what people are reporting, getting 55K miles out of a set doesn't seem likely. In any case, I have proof of purchase and proof of install (with mileage). So if they don't last 55K, I will be expecting a pro-rated warranty refund from Falken going towards the next set.

Got mine installed today with TRD Pro rims and want to echo on how much more aggressive they look in person vs the pictures posted. VERY aggressive looking tire and love how they handle so far. Zero road noise, look great, and the grip feels confident. Look forward to taking them off road! Very pleased!

The UPS man just dropped these off. Tomorrow the 54lb Pirelli Scorpion E rated 265/75/16 get swapped for the 44lb AT3W. Just hoping they can get a decent alignment so they don't wear terribly.

I went with the standard load / P rated version. Gravel and fire roads are the worst they will ever see.

Got it. That's my debate currently. Not sure what type of wheeling I'm going to do so idk what rating of tire to get.

Here is my take between the P and the E rating...

If you do any semi-serious to serious rock crawling, absolutely do the E. If you do highway and/or trail riding, absolutely do the P.

The P has a very soft sidewall. This is largely why the P-rated tires ride so well. For my 4Runner, which is 99% paved road daily driver with an occasional camping trip which puts me on a mild trail for a short distance, the choice between P and E was a no brainer.

But would I feel comfortable taking a P-rated Falken tire (2-ply) and putting the sidewall against a rock? No way!

This is great info. The hard part is I'm not sure exactly what I'll be doing. I plan to make my truck (2wd prerunner) more of a surf/camp/Baja rig to do some weekend camping trips and other surf trips up north in big sur.

I also will DD the truck and it's a 4cyl so those are huge factors in my decision. I again don't want to be stuck in BFA because of a crappy tire.

I think you just may have answered your own question.

Your truck is a 2wd. That means that your truck isn't even capable to hit terrains where the E-rated tire would be needed/shine. Furthermore you have a 4cyl which can benefit from the lighter weight tire.

I recommend the P-rated for you.

Great. I'm thinking of a 255/75/17 as my tire size. Hoping to see how they are.

Installed and I am very happy with the way they look, and how quiet they are. P265/75/R16 on FJ SE Wheels. Truck has OME 866 and Dakars.

E rated seems to be showing the 55K mile warranty just the same.

Is this pointed out somewhere I'm overlooking?
