So first real snow fall here in NY. Honestly not 100% impressed with these in the snow. Even in 4wd it was struggling a little bit finding the grip.
Really wet heavy snow fall here. We got about 10inches, with about 2 or so on the road with bunch of slush.

As a fellow Washingtonian I can tell you these tires are excellent in the rain.

We got heavy rain this weekend in Northern Cali and I had a chance to put 300 miles on these tires in the rain. Stuck like glue!

My previous tires (BFG KDW) were very slippery towards the latter half of their life anytime the roads were wet.

I live in Buffalo NY and just had a chance to test out the tires in the snow. Overall not too bad and I've had general grabbers and KO's before. I think the General Grabbers and KO's slighltly out perform the Falken's in the snow though.

Bah. Not what I wanted to hear about the snow performance. Hopefully it's enough for what I need in this soon to be Ohio snow.

Going to have to drive a little more cautious I would say. Better then stock tires for sure, but wish they were a tad better. Dropping the tire pressure and putting a bit more weight in the bed seemed to help.

Same here over in Pittsburgh PA, but like I said these tires will be worn out come spring in about another 10k so I'll probably be going back to a set of duratrac's!

the question we aren't getting answered is Good/bad in snow compared to what? and what kind of snow? hard pack? ice? slush? powder? Deep? not deep? So many variances. And to be good in one, you may sacrifice another type.. And some say they are great in snow. Same with the Cooper at3, some say they are great in snow, some say they are awful... Nothing is going to drive in snow as if it were dry pavement... So what exactly are we comparing here?

Absolutely agree, a tire's snow performance is very difficult to compare against because of all the variables that could be present. Dry and wet (rain) has a lot less variables.

So where I live we got slammed with 1.5 feet of heavy wet snow. NYS is actually pretty good about keeping the roads fairly clear in our area. So when driving around youre dealing with random patches of slush and slightly glazed over pavement.
I found that anything more than an inch of greasy snow and the truck was fish tailing like crazy, even when driving at a very reasonable speed for the conditions. Even tossing it in 4wd the truck would struggle in the corners (slow speed).
Still need to find out the deal with the powdery stuff though.

Comparison I've had is Hankook Dynapro ATM, Cooper ATP, Fierce Attitude MTs, and Yokohama HTs.

Yokohama just sucked I'll leave it at that.
Hankooks were amazing up until 45k miles then it and then the sipping was gone and sucked. But I've driven through several heavy snow storms without missing a beat.
Coopers were pretty solid. Drove through Michigan crazy winters and lots of snow, never felt nervous with them. But only got 30k miles out of them.
Fierce MTs surprisingly were awesome in the snow. Not so good on the hard pack or ice though.

Sum it up wet/slushy/greasy snow i was not impressed with the Falkens. Still waiting on the fluffy stuff. I've been eyeing switching to something else but of course everything is crazy expensive so might have to hold out.

The $25. I didn't know there were multiple levels.

Also, I still haven't received the falken rebate.

Had a couple days of heavy wet snow here, tires performed reasonably well. The more icy it got the poorer the performance. They hooked up well in the fresh snow and on the chop but kinda sucked on the ice. Didn't expect them to grip up on ice like a dedicated winter tire so I am not surprised.

Just a FYI for all you thinking about doing the treadlightly falken/discount tire rebate....as of 10/01/16, you need to be at least a $50 membership in order to qualify for the rebates. I just received an email from them this morning to clarify this.

Discount Tire is doing a Black Friday rebate. $75 back. I'm also doing the Tread Lightly for an additional $100 for a total of $125 (after paying the $50)

Got these LT285/70-17 mounted yesterday. Slightly noisier/firmer than the P265/70-17 version I had on before. Off-roading in the mountains on Saturday and will update with how they do in snow
