you don't know what living is unless you take a 2.7L right to the red line with over 100k on the clock

My biggest peev with the V6 is the damn spark plugs and how they need to be changed every 30k. They could have at least made it a simple task

Sounds like every tire ever manufactured. I've seen reports of good and bad tread wear on just about every tire mentioned on this website. There's way too many factors than just the tire itself.

Moe, you doing mostly highway driving or a lot of city stop and go? Gravel/asphalt/dirt roads mostly?

I will say my Goodyear ATs were not doing that great on treadwear either. At around 7k miles of straight on road use they had about 9/32nds. At that rate they'd have been down to 3/32nds around 20k miles.

After selling those stock tires for 400 on craiglist and getting these (less rebate) I spent about 100 bucks....so if I get equivalent mileage I'll just warranty them and be on my way.

As the product manager for all Falken LT/SUV/CUV tires, and a Tacoma owner and enhtusiast, of course I am monitoring this thread like a hawk. I greatly appreciate all of the feedback and real world data. Honestly I'm monitoring this tire with our quality assurance team on a global level, and I am very surprised about some of the experiences I am seeing on this thread regarding the non-LT tires.

It is true the LT tires at this time do not have silica in order to meet the tread wear expectations of the modern 3/4T-1T pickup trucks approaching nearly 1000ft-lbs of torque, and it is true that the non-LT sizes are enriched with silica filler in order to meet the all-terrain consumers' expectation for traction in nearly every condition: dry, wet, snow, hot weather, cold weather, you name it; modern silica formulation breaks the traditional compromises of tire performance. The LT sizes in the AT3W also have deeper tread than the non-LT sizes. With that said I have not seen a single complaint for tread wear as of May 2017 since the launch of this tire in Feb 2016 on the LT sizes nor the non-LT's.

I suppose what is surprising to me at this time is that we have some non-LT WILDPEAK AT3W tread wear monitor users with F-150 ECOBOOST engines with 375ft lbs of torque with NO premature wear, yet a few of those on the tacomaworld forum with with no power at all (yes I said it) are reporting tread wear issues.... During development, the last third party wear test I performed on this tire in size 265/70R17 still had 8mm or 10/32nds tread depth left 20,000 miles on an F-150, with a projected mileage of 68,000 miles exceeding the stated warranty of 55,000 miles.

Needless to say I'd like to investigate these occurrences in detail because they are not seemingly representative of the overall performance of this product.
@moe2o4 @Discount Tire Direct I will work with our Falken quality assurance team and DTD to get your tires back to our technical center for an autopsy.

If there are others with issues feel free to PM me with your specifics. Thanks again to all of those on the forum for sharing their positive experiences with the AT3W as well.

    -Drew

I don't know about every tire, that's for sure. Most of the time it seems to be a general consensus that they are either good or bad and you get a FEW mixed in the opposite way. These just seem to be all over the place. I get what you're saying though, different people, different circumstances, different results

    (please check highlighted areas)

Are you saying that you're the product manager of this tire and you have never seen a single complaint for premature tread wear come across your desk? Even though numerous people here have stated that they have contacted your company? What are they doing with those complaints then?

Sorry for any confusion, we haven't actually have not processed any pro-rated warranties for the WILDPEAK AT3W since the time of launch, which is what I meant by stating that we don't have any actual wear complaints to date. We have sold hundreds of thousands tires to date. I did confirm with our quality assurance department that we have only a two documented email instances of complaints with regard to wear on the AT3W, one from a RAM1500 in Canada, and the other from jztacoma.

Our quality assurance representative informed jztacoma as follows:

"While I understand your concern of the 4/32nds of wear off the tires, it is still early to tell if the wear will slow down as we approach the 4/32nds of tread remaining mark, where we will accept tires for mileage claim. Discount tire direct should understand that we accept tires at 4/32nds and below, though they may have their own rule with the 3/32nds remark.
I have added you to my watch list. If you are on the Tacoma forums, note that I, personally, am watching for unusual patterns."

I have also personally reached out to Discount Tire Direct as well to inform them of the situation. We completely understand if you move to another brand tire, and we want to thank you for your feedback thus far. Also, I have asked Discount Tire Direct to help in returning your set of tires to our technical center for investigation, so thank you in advance for your cooperation. Know that our company Falken Tire as well as Discount Tire value you as a customer, and "we will make it right" one way or another.

I'm personally sorry that you are having an issue with this product, as many of us at Falken Tire, myself included, have dedicated several years of our lives to ensuring that the new WILDPEAK AT3W would absolutely ROCK!

Drew thank you for all the help on this, Matt from DTD reached out already to me. Waiting to receive a call from their customer service group to go over the details. Guys have been great to deal with, hopefully can get some good data to see why they might be wearing quickly

OK thanks for clearing that up Drew.
It is defiantly nice to see that you guys are monitoring the forums and watching what people have to say about your product. If your company will really stand behind the tire as it seems like, the customer should be pleased no matter what the outcome of tire wear ends up being

Thank you for taking the time,
    Rob
