I'm all for it being legal. Same restrictions as alcohol. I rarely smoke...maybe 1-2 times a year IF that; but, I do know a ton of people that smoke, young AND OLD (derek :p). The idiots out there that will cause crashes and commit crimes while stoned, will still get caught & be punished, while the majority of the toking population will continue to blaze up in their backyard after work. I think it'll just weed out the idiots (no pun intended) and save the law abiding citizens a bunch of hassle.

    I have a G31C....:)

Why do the opponents of marijuana act like if it becomes legal, then the whole world will constantly be high, all the time, everywhere and everything will smell like weed and no one will work anymore:confused:

    Sure thing it is.

Drink about a few gallons of water in a sitting, and you more than likely wont live to tell the tale either.

Disclaimer after reading my post it may come off like i'm talking down to you or giving you a hard time. if it comes off that way i apologize, but "conversational tone" is hard to display over the interwebz.

what bothers me about that statement is the fact that you dont say that to people who want to drink. you make it sound like pot is for young high schoolers but you never make comments about older people drinking. i agree that there is nothing more annoying than a high teenager. the human brain doesn't fully develop until hte early 20's. so when young people are high it is annoying as SHIT! i assume this is because of social as well as cerebral immaturity. but that is why my gf use to have such a huge issue with it. she hated it cause of hte guys she was around in HS. but she admitted that when i smoke you can't even tell. i may eat more and smile a little more but other than that i act completely normal. most smoking adults do. she despised the stuff up until about a year ago. now she occasionally tokes with me and if she can choose between me being drunk or me being high, she would much MUCH rather me be high. i consider myself grown up (as much as i will be) and i smoke almost daily. i have a car, a job, saving for a house, and a ring for my woman. even after very regular use i'm not anywhere close to being a burn out and can still speak intelligently (but only when i need to). its just a different way to relax. nothing like sinking into a big leather sofa after a day of work and lighting up :D

its also absolutely the greatest sleep aid i have ever found. my doctor has prescribed me ativan, ambien, valium, and lunesta, and they all suck. i wake up groggy and suffer memory loss. obviously i dont remember much when i'm high either, but weed only affects my memory when i'm high, otherwise i'm fine. when i take those pills i walk around in a haze all the next day

personally i'd prefer decriminalization over legalization, but not for the reasons you state. i could care less about the 'excitement' factor, i'm too old to give a shit about rebelling anymore. i just want to be able to grow a few plants and walk around with a couple J's on me and not be a "criminal"

awesome view on it. wish everyone felt this way

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for decriminalizing it as well, not legalization.

I meant my statement EXACTLY as how you described it. Anytime weed is mentioned, people jump all over it and are like "OM6 LEGALIZE". Then there are people like you, who intelligently reflect on the matter and can actually control yourself. ;)

P.S. I DO feel the same way about underage drinking (or people who abuse alcohol in general). ;)

If this passes, I'm buying stock in Cheetos.

Seriously though, only thing that concerns me is I and others (military) are still subject to random drug tests. I'm curious how much 2nd hand smoke exposure it would take to show up on a drug test as a positive. I'm sure just whiffing it wouldn't pop. But that would mean I would have to leave the area (a park or whatever) or risk loosing my job. I think it will still be illegal in public, but even in a private setting (an apartment), the smoke can come through the windows or ventilation system. Seems like it restricts the rights of those who cannot be around it by preventing access.

It's also not the same as alcohol. When I drink, only I am affected. When smokers light up, they are affecting everyone around them. It's no different than cigarette smoke in the way it travels, but it's a narcotic.

The proposed legislation also doesn't prevent the feds from enforcing on any store that sells it. The current administration has stated it won't enforce medical marijuana sales sites but that doesn't mean he or a future president will follow the same guidelines for recreational use and sales.

As for it's current legal status, it's already just a misdemenor in California for up to one ounce ($100 fine).

You will NOT come up positive for second hand smoke.

There isn't enough THC in the smoke that your breathing in from second hand that would cause you to come up positive.

I've been clean before, sat in a room with a big ol blunt with three other people. I couldnt smoke because of drug court so i didnt, i eventually got dizzy from the sheer amount of smoke and left. I ended up having a random test the next day, passed with flying colors :D

wow, damn good post. TONS of info in there. i had wondered about drug test before and how they work. I use to work at GNC and we made a killing with those temporary masking drinks. you chug it then drink a ton of water and your piss will be fine for a few hours. they must work cause we sold a ton of them and many time over and over to the same people.

    how does that stuff work?
