I'm sure the pads are fine, rotors are not. Might as well change all

Another question: I see there are 2 versions of power stop. K137 z23 or k137z36. Anyone have any suggestions on which one? Both fit but the z36 is for heavy braking conditions. Thanks!

My FIL installed K137 z36 over the weekend. Was pretty quick, I don't feel a whole lot difference in stopping power, there is a little. But the brakes are super solid, no noise, rattles, no groaning or anything. Didn't realize how noisy the original brakes had become. Best part: no more shakes when braking down hill!!

All of you putting drilled or slotted rotors on your trucks should watch this video:

    https://youtu.be/78wbht355R8

TLDR: They do almost nothing for performance in street applications, can accelerate pad wear and should be considered an aesthetic modification only. But don’t take my word for it, watch the video and take it from a mechanical engineer.

What year was your last Tacoma? Does anyone know if newer tacomas, have crappier OEM front pads? Are they made with worse materials and wear down quicker, so you bring it in for service quicker vs older oem pads?

I have a 2011 Tacoma. Just changed my original rotors and pads a few months ago with about 120,000 miles on them. They needed it, but were still working just fine... aside from a moderate shake when braking downhill.

I went with OEM again because the original set worked well and lasted.

Well, I'm from NY and tailgate in hopes of making someone move faster, tailgate so no one can cut in on me :) Lots of traffic out here in Seattle. So I'm ready to change my pads
and rotors at 30k :) My 2001 with 220k miles had it pads changed every 25k or close to it. So when I'm reading you guys getting 100k, all I can
say is WOW!! Thanks for the tips on what to get, looks like I will also go with Powerstop!!!

No, I wouldn't put those on my truck. The correct P/N is 04465-04070

I use the following website to reference the correct OEM part numbers for my Toyota's:

    www.toyodiy.com

Once you create an account, you update your vehicle settings with the VIN from your vehicle.
I've had both a 2006 and a 2011 Tacoma, the brake pad P/N was the same for both, 04465-04070
