Yes chromoly does cost more, everyone building cages tends to use chrom. However his front setup says camburg on it.... or my eyes are deceiving me.

Yeah thats why Im confused on the cost of labor on the front. However they did an amazing job on the rear.

Guess I just answered my own question with that statement. You get what you pay for.

I was a flat rate tech at Schumacher's, I know how labor works. However if he is charging 100 an hour your looking at 11 hours in labor to install the front. 1.5 per pair to remove. Thats standard toyota time. So remove and install a set of uppers and lowers is 6 hours. You could add another .5 hour to remove and install the new coilovers per side so now 7 hours. Plus 2.5 hours for shafts so 9.5 hours. Plus tax alright they did him fair and square. nevermind then they are cheap. I forgot about the half shafts since he is 4wd.

And they also cut the coil buckets and welded a brace so the resi hose fits, they installed limit straps, and they installed the resi mounts

Those are all bolt up options. cant add much more for a 5 minutes of bolting shit up. Cutting the bucket ruined the structural integrity of the buckets without welding a brace in it. Just like with any construction you take some of that material away it supports less.

they arent bolt up options. need to weld the mounts for the straps on, cycle it, strap it correctly. like 45 min worth of work probably. all of those things needed some type of griding, cutting or welding to be done..

and they welded a brace for the coil bucket.:p

Ok so you really have no idea what your talking about, those are weld on items. The bucket has to be cut for Icon shocks, and yes it changes integrity, thats why they gusseted it. Despite what most people think LT does not just "bolt" on. I would love to see you set up limit straps in 5 minutes, and I guess your truck has pre-made tabs for the straps?

From the pics I can see did not look as though they gusset the bucket. But just merely gusseting the sides will still not reinforce the exansion of the bucket. That coils movement is vertical. I dont see anything that has gusseted the top on the bucket.

And no I will be honest I have not done a strap install. Assumed from what I have googled and seen that straps were bolted to the frame an to the LCU.

    heres the upper gusset--

the straps have to be welded to the frame or bolted on but you need to weld on a bracket. and certain lower control arms come with tabs but mine didnt so i will need to weld that on as well.

Good to know. And I kept going back and forth looking at that bucket and thought that they light reflection off that gusset was part of the motor in the back. Damn eye's were playing tricks on me. And back to my original post where I agree that the 1100 for the front was fair.

Exactly, you have to measure to make sure the straps actually stop the suspension at the right point. If you dont do it right you will either lose travel because it stops too early or risk breaking things because it stops too late

That I understood. However I assumed that the manu would give an apx location within spec to facilitate that.

general rule is as long as you dont end up with more than 5 extra washers and 2 extra bolts, you're ready to huck it.
