Yes boys and girls I paid off the ransom early to the big bad bank securing the freedom of the blue mule and now she is all mine! It’s a pleasant feeling knowing I don’t have to make any more payments.:D

Who else owns their Taco free and clear?

I do. It's such a great feeling. Luckily I only had to add 5k to the money from the buyback on my '99 and I paid cash for the truck the night I picked it up. So much easier to sleep knowing the only one you owe is the mortgage company. Hoping to start making headway on that soon too!

yup...paid it off april of last year and have since been over paying the mortgage.

assuming i was to make the standard payment going forward, i have shaved off 20 months. however, if i continue to over pay at the same rate i am today, i will shave a total of 12 years off.

the only downside is my savings don't grow as fast as they could and i don't buy as many toys as the jones's

You're doing the right thing man. Screw the joneses LOL. Your mortgage is probably higher interest rate than your retirement would be yielding in the stock market these days anyway.

Mine is! I got mine for $28,500 and they gave me $17,000 on my 2007 Prerunner that was paid of so it left me oweing them $11,500 which was given to them that day...although I hated looking into my savings account and seeing it $11,500 dollars emptier. I love not having a payment. The pain in the ass was just a few months later my wife decided she wanted a 2010 4Runner limited. We traded the civic in and got $6,000 for it, then I proceeded to give them a little over $30,000 and then the savings account was almost dry...but I'm getting it back up! They gave me bout about $5,000 off for paying cash.
