I went to the Toyota dealership today to ordered my 2017 TRD Pro super white but I saw a black TRD Sport and it looked beautiful.

I like the way the TRD Pro looks but there are a few things missing:

1.- I really want a black tacoma and the TRD pro only has 3 colors.
2.- It's missing a sun roof, I don't know how it can have leather seats but no sun roof.
3.- Tires are lame, I'm still getting some km2/3's

On the other hand, the TRD Sport has Sun roof but it's missing:
    1.- Blacked out lights
    2.- Skid Plate
    3.- Lift
    4.- KM2/3 tires
    5.- Black Front Grill
    6.- Skid plate
    7.- Leather seats
    8.- Led fog lights

Another option is to get a TRD Off Road but this will be missing:
1.- hood scoop (getting an OEM hood and Paint it might be a bit difficult)
    2.- Black grill
    3.- lift
    4.- KM2/3 Tires
    5.- Leather seats
    6.- Blacked out lights
    7.- Led fog lights

If you want the functionality of a Pro, you need to start with an Off Road. It is easier to swap body parts than integrated systems like ATRAC and Crawl control. I've done it on a 2nd gen and swapped everything but badges. If you don't care about those things, buy the model you like best and lift accordingly for cheaper than a real pro.

Just get the sport if you want a sun roof and scooped hood. Buy the lift you want, get the color you want. Buy black lights or take them apart and paint them yourself. Fog lights can be added, so can leather seats. And I assume e stock skid sucks, I dented mine in sand on my 2nd gen

Go for the TRDOR. To get a half decent paint job alone on the pro wouldn't make it worth it, and you're still without a sunroof. Much easier to add leather, lights, etc. than a sunroof and new paint for a brand new truck.

If you truly will take it off road, just buy an off road.
Then do BHLM rx350 retrofits, buy a TRD pro grill, buy a hood with a scoop and get it painted, buy better fogs than the pro rigids for cheaper, buy katzkin leather seat replacement skins or clazzio leather covers. For the suspension, just choose what you want, same goes for tires and rims.
You will probably end up spending 5k-8k bringing you to the price point of a Pro, but it will be way better.

I'd build it how you want. Forget Toyota doing it for you.
Cherry pick the parts your want with the model that suits you better.
I got a TRD O.R for the crawl/off-road package, but then the hood from the sport. Then did all the lights blacked(plus more) Like the PRO.
Only think you Will mainly loose is that plush interior on the PRO. Everything else can be swapped or replicated.

    1. Sunroofs suck. (I would have paid extra if needed to not have on.)
    2. Cement gray. No other color options needed.

Lol. If you don't want the truck for the special color of cement, I def wouldn't buy a pro, especially if you plan on doing many mods or replacing the suspension. That's just my opinion. The truck fit my needs exactly and I like the cement color and black leather, so it was a perfect fit. It doesn't sound like it is for you, so I would save the $4K or so and go with an off road (in quicksand of course.)

Exactly. OP wanted black, PRO doesn't come in black, so I suggested building a "like" rig. I don't agree with all the bells and whistles on a PRO...and the "tuned" suspension/wheel package is one of them.

I say build an Off-Road. If you plan on taking it on trails, you'll be much better off building a truck suited specifically to what you want from it/want it to have. By the sounds of it you know what you want, so build it! You'll be happy you did. The Pro is nice, and props to those who have them/love them/can afford them, but I like the fact I cherry picked parts for my truck based on what I wanted and needed. Just like building myself a mountain bike. Everything I want and nothing I don't. On another note, as I said before, if you do plan on taking it off road, get the TRD Off Road over the Sport any day because you can't add all of the electronic systems like Crawl Control, ect to a TRD Sport.

Also, note the Pro only has an additional 1" front lift over and OR, so I wouldn't consider it "lifted" so much as "leveled"

I get your point. I'm not a big off roader so I don't know if I will ever use the crawl thing and those things it comes with, however I like the 4x4 and the way a nice 2.5 inch lift and km2 look on a taco! I had this on my 2nd gen and I loved it. Does the Sport lacks the Crawl control? Do you think this is a big deal? I've heard people saying that is for newbies haha but I don't know.

I'm not good with tools and suck, I also live in an apartment complex so it's hard to work on a car here. If I was in mexico I definetly would be able to do this with friends and for the cheap, but here I don't even have an idea of where to take it to do all these things (lift, paint, black lights, etc) but you have a great point, the Sport has most of the things I want (except leather seats which both models lack) and If I get the Limited I would end up paying more or the same as the TRD PRO

    Lift - 4WP
Leather seats - get some his end covers or get them reupholstered
If you can get the headlights of theyre not hard to paint - tons of threads on it (look up black headlight mod and you'll find it)
