    A few.
Im having an weird issue with my tacoma. For the first 30,000 miles the paint held up well with only a couple paint chips. After installing a set of Wildpeak ATs I noticed a weird chipping pattern. This happened just over the last 4000-5000 miles through the winter. I had the truck through last winter as well but didnt experience this with the previous tires.
Drivers side. Pattern perfectly follows the edge of the door jamb.

On the passenger side there is nothing in that area. But it has a similar pattern on the front edge of the rear door. Only thing I know to do is to touch it up.

Get a set of sidesteps, they will minimize the beating.

Wow ... that's a lot of chipping like it's been sandblasted! Are you driving on gravel all the time? Almost makes me also wonder if the paint is just super thin right along the edge of that door?

Perhaps you moved to a larger tire size? Wheel spacers? Different wheels?
If the tire is uncovered, it's going to fling rock and debris, that paint just can't withstand.

I've noticed my WildPeaks throw up alot of sand/gravel, and I hear my side steps taking most of the direct hits.

I guess I need to throw the RokBlokz flaps I bought, onto the truck sooner than later. I've been undecided on installing them, I cant get used to the way they look when installed. :anonymous:

I travel no gravel roads at all but do live in the country and travel paved roads without lines painted on them.

The truck has had the factory mudflaps since it was new.

Don't know if it'd help in the op's case, but i'm sold on this ceramic glass coating they did for my truck. I had many paint chips from stones that i travel a few miles over each day with my old tundra. So far after 1 year nothing of the sort on this tacoma. Even paint smudges from other vehicle doors when parked too close at these big box stores are able to be rubbed off.

Can also buy yourself some 3m clear bra pieces and put them there. It won't help what is already done though, just prevent future damage. As folks have mentioned, mudflaps are easy and cheap.

To see the protection area of flaps draw a line from bottom of tire to bottom of flap and this is only when not in a turn with tires sticking out beyond the flaps.

I personally, can't get used to the look of rust where the paint has been completely sandblasted...

Not only that it devalues the truck when trying to sell, or trade it.

This may be just me, but I have noticed that the blue paint seems to be weaker than other vehicles I have had. I have rock chips that are right down to the bare metal with only a couple thousand miles on the truck already.

Man u need mudflaps, ur sandblasting the exposed hard edge. Even if you repair the damaged paint u'll need some form of flap and maybe a clear 3m film edge protector. If you like the contrast you can also have it wrapped. Just suggns. :hattip:

It looks like the your rear door and a q-panel take a lot of beating. Yes, misaligned door will allow q-panel edge catch a lot more rocks than it should be. Align your door, get some side steps and mudflaps. Mudflaps alone will not solve your problem, IMO.

I went to a slightly wider 265/70 a/t on my truck but haven't experienced any of that yet. I've got fender flares and mud flaps though. Only thing i've noticed is a constant accumulation of crusty mud on the bed in front of the rear wheel wells were toyota has installed some protection. Once it rains it falls right off.

Makes me think it's for starter a paint issue. I would for one go by a well regarded auto body shop (or two) and ask them to look at it. It certainly needs to be repainted so that it doesn't get worse.
