Paint Chips - Suggestions?

Other than the truck not having Apple Car Play my only other gripe is the crap paint quality. I have never had this issue on a vehicle before. Is this something I can/should fix on my own? I am guessing if I leave it be the rust spots will just get worse.

Yeah, I think Toyota paint is crap compared to other manufacturers, seems "softer" and more susceptible to damage. I always diy fix small chips in the paint right away using a paint pen and clear coat. That looks like it might need a little light sanding first...

 

I guess i've been lucky so far with their paint on the tacoma, or its this glass coat that was done to protect the paint, but not one single dinger yet. My tundra that didn't have it, looked like someone took slingshot practice on it.

Your paint repair will only last if you eliminate the rust.

 

Paint quality not as good as it used to be.

 

Swing past the local speakership and grab a touch up pen from them. Its color coded to match. They come with a abrasive tip. You use it ike a marker to rub the rust out of the surface. It will have paint on one side , and clear coat on the other. Perhaps after consider hood deflector.

 

The paint looked a lot thicker applied on my gen1 tundra, but it sure chipped real easy pretty much everywhere a stone hit it. I didn't have the paint protection that was available today....and it showed. So far i've got zero complaints with the paint on my 2020 tacoma.
As far as the op, any rust must be sanded out to bare metal first before it can be primered, painted, and clear coated, or it will never last.

 

May want to get a bug deflector if you get that many chips
