    Oh look, another mod....
The dealership is going to tell you to pound sand.

If you bought this new or used, you didn't inspect it before you drove off. If it was bought new, the warranty won't cover the paint. Always inspect the vehicle fully before driving off the lot EVEN if it's a brand new vehicle with 0 miles on it.

It's clear coat failure. My 2009 looked the same. Hood and roof and all high sunlight points failed.

I've had clearcoat failure on a Honda vehicle. It looked nothing like the photo's of the OP. Mine looked like the clearcoat turning milky looking, and flaking off. The OP's photos look like the inside of a fiberglass boat.

No point going to the dealer. They will tell you to kick rocks. Just wrap it.

Just curious was it .6 from the maximum level or .6 to the middle area of the Sage zone or .6 below the low level?

My level was .6 from max. It is new change. Should be at max. I believe

We usually put it just a hair under max. Over half a qt is to low but technically as long as it’s in the safe zone it’s fine.

Same thing happened to my 2018 Quiksand on the roof and hood. I addressed it with the dealership and Toyota and they took care of it 100%. Even with a loaner car. I didn't pay anything. I would address it with them first and see what is said. I know some here have had mixed solutions with Toyota and dealerships but it doesn't hurt to ask.

I'm a detailer and I've never seen that before. Could be a bad paint protection film/vinyl, but its most likely clear coat failure (because its on the roof). Need more pics from different angles/exposure.

Yesterday, I met with the service manager at the dealership where I purchased it new from in 2018. He inspected it and said he had never seen anything like that before. He asked a worker for a paint gauge to measure the paint on the sides, hood and roof of the truck (high 3 readings). He took several photos of the roof and told me he will send an email to Toyota. Hopefully, I will hear something back soon.

This bmw 5 series I’m working on has the same issue. Looks like clear coat failure

Good lord. Did you buy the truck new in 2018? Or were there previous owners?

All these comments talking about how dealer won’t help you - it doesn’t hurt to try / ask and costs you nothing but a few minutes.

With all of the manufacturers paint issues related to white paint over last few years, maybe they can slide you in under something related for warranty repair…apparently we have extended warranty specific to paint now? Read that on here somewhere at some point.

It looks like the primer sealer is soaking up and a reaction. Looks like a defect on Toyotas part. I'm concerned that it didn't happen overnight, maybe at first notice you should have taken into the dealer. Good luck.

    A few.
If u dont have any luck at the dealer, one option would be to have the roof wrapped in black. Would look real good on the cement imo.
