    Hey Guys

New member here and I wasn't really planning on posting this soon. I bought a 13 TRD Sport 4x4 with 8000 miles on it from a private party. This is not my first Tacoma and I thoroughly inspected the truck before I bought it. I know feel like the first owner did a good job hiding this spot on the hood. Two weeks later I took her to get detailed including wax and clay bar. When I picked her up the detail guy said "whats up with your paint?" To my surprise there was a huge white spot on my hood that appeared to be under neath the clear coat. When I run my fingers over it feels smooth and no different than the rest of the paint.

I took her to Toyota San Diego Body Shop and the estimator tried to tell me it was bird poop that had caused corrosion and will most likely result in rust etc, I would have to pay to get it re-painted. I disagreed with him on it being bird poop, and he ended up telling me the factory rep "happens to be here today" lets ask him. The factory rep also did not know what it was, but offered to have Toyota pay for the new paint job on my hood. Here's my question, has anyone ever seen anything like this? Any ideas of what it is or what caused it? I have owned many cars/trucks in my time and have never seen anything like it. Thanks for the feedback

looks like it was heated to me... maybe from underneath though so it's only showing up right there?

Satoshi, debadged, rear view mirror bracket, tail gate hose clamps, trimmed mud flaps.
    Kinda looks like spray paint.

Yes thats the only spot on the whole truck. Nothing will bring it out as it clearly is in there deep. Looking underneath the hood I see nothing weird/different. I'm a little confused on why Toyota would be willing to pay for it if it was bird poop.

    The better coast
Did you just buy the truck? Or did it develop?

I am sorry you have to use an iphone...android would have made the picture taking experience much better.

toyota wouldn't be willing to pay for it if it was just crap... but they probably are willing to as it's a fairly new truck with an obvious paint defect of some sort..

I bought it about a month ago. I just feel like it's something I would have noticed before buying it. I don't think its spray paint, but who knows. I'm completly stumped on what it is, but at least it will be taken care of by Toyota. And I would never let bird poop cook on my hood like that, I take pride in my Tacoma she's perfect other than for this one spot. So weird

Was it detailed by Toyota or you mean a detail/body shop whatever? Seems fishy to me that they'd nonchalantly point it out after detailing and turning your truck back over to you...as in if it wasn't there when you took it to them, why did it suddenly pop up after. To me a white spot on your dark hood would have been noticed long before you took it in for a detailing.

Or as you are alluding maybe PO touched it up real good and body shop just removed a shitty cover job.
