Is this the first vehicle you have ever owned? I would say the Tacoma is one of the worst for paint scratches.

no but it's the first i've ever waxed......... every wash gets a wax (because the water stops beading)

Maybe the waxing prevents scratches. I know for a fact our front bumper cover chips rather easily because of the plastic texture, the paint doesn't really like to adhere to it.

The paint on my tacoma really sucks. Mine has "spots" in the paint - don't know what they are from and after I washed her yesterday, I noticed alot of fine scratches in the paint. I have a few minor chips. I'm wondering how well the paint will hold up over time.... I have a '99 camry and that paint is in alot better shape for the age than the tacoma.

Seems to me the sheet metal thickness isn't any better than the paint. Both could be improved.

What is it about "seeing" cops that make you steer into ditches? That's what I want to hear about.

You want to see bad paint, buy a Nissan. You can literally dig into it and chip it off with your fingernail.

I don't see Toyota paint as being any worse than any other import. I think this is one area where domestics are still ahead, IMO.

I am like you, extreme, I wash and wax all the time so my paint is in pretty good shape.
