    Does anyone know if this has been fixed in the newest model years?

    Just noticed my 2017 doing the same thing today. Same spot on both rear doors next to the window and looks exactly like the photos in this thread. Truck has a little over 40k on it. Pretty disappointing.

    My question for those of you who have taken it up with a Toyota dealership and were successful in getting them to repair it is are you going to the same dealership you bought from? The dealership I bought my truck from is a couple hours away but I have taken it in for services to a local dealership closer to me a couple times. Wondering if it would make any difference? Or has anyone been told “tough luck” by one dealership and then gone to another where they were willing to help?

    Ok well. Seems as though I'm not alone. Add me to the list of disgruntled Tacoma owners. 2017 TRD Sport in white none the less. Just noticed the other day that paint is peeling/flaking off around drivers side rear window. Upon inspection the paint around passenger side rear window seems to come off with the scratch of a fingernail. So that side is only a matter of time as well. 60K miles and past warranty. Toyota basically told me not our problem, as it was past warranty. Dealership has no recalls on file so they wont do shit either. They have paint recalls for other models (Camry, etc.) with this issue. Why are they excluding Tacoma when it obviously is affected? Has anyone been able to get resolution past warranty? Toyota needs to make this right. I'll die on this hill.

    Toyota fix my front fenders but it took a year of me fighting them. Same exact as the other guy in the picture with the hood up peeling on the inside. One of the big reasons I’m thinking about selling this truck. Do not get a white Tacoma.

    Clean it with alcohol very lightly using a blue shop towel, Gently scuff it with a scotch pad and the area around it and brush on touch up paint or else it will run away on you

    Hello everyone. I have a 2016 Tacoma TRD White with 61,000 miles on it and my inside fender is also peeling. I took it to the dealership and they said paint is only warrantied for 3 year 36,000 miles. I have an 8 year 125,000 mile platinum extended warranty on it but that does not cover paint. I called toyota USA and they also said it’s not covered past 3 year 36,000 miles. How do we start a class action law suit?

    I've only read the last page of this thread, is this paint peel on from both Mexico and US production plants?

    If you have a Super White Toyota its gonna peel.

    @gobigguy

    I had the same thing and Toyota fixed it. What you do is find the guy who writes up the bodywork stuff for the dealer and bug the shit out of him for an entire year.

    2017 OR here no issues yet, silver, premium package, made in Mexico

    I wonder maybe we should be indicating where they are made, paint color and option level to see if there is a pattern

    very strange that only white vehicles would have this issue. I wonder what is different in the paint process

    imo, Toyota should be able to pinpoint the problem as it seems most have the paint flake in the same general area.

    Same. Exact. Issue.
    2016 Tacoma SR5 in Super White. I took it back to the dealership, they took pix and sent a $2300 quote for repairs to Toyota corporate. Toyota corp offered 10% ($230). I called Toyota for resolution and the basically said it's out of warranty and there's no recall so tough tomatoes.IMG_6644.jpg IMG_6644.jpg IMG_6645.jpg IMG_6647.jpg

    Bought our 2017 Tacoma Certified Used back in 30Jan2021. Brought it into the dealership to install accessories 01Mar2021. Came to pick it up and it had this... soooo sad. Of course the dealer denied responsibility. Contacted their Customer Relations lady. Hopefully the dealership can help us out. I contacted Toyota Headquarters as well and opened a case/report.

    After a few calls with Toyota Corporate, and their absolute refusal to do a damn thing about the paint issue, I decided to sell. Other than the paint, the truck is pristine. Of course every person who inquired about the truck was either scared off by the paint issue or used it as a negotiating tool (I don't blame them), but no reasonable offers. So I took it to the body shop to get this paint taken care of ($1100) and while they were masking off the front door they noticed paint flaking off from there too (another $300 to repair). Now I'm just about at the break-even point between trade/sell. IMG_6760.jpg IMG_6761.jpg
