Was I unreasonable in thinking that my truck that I spent my hard earned deployment money on might not have paint FLAKING off within 70,000 miles?
2016 Tacoma Super White. Buyers beware

Toyota is doing nothing to correct the issue aside from advising me to keep my receipts from any repairs in case they roll out a program to fix the issue in the future. Unbelievable

Not alone my friend, I've had a few super white, never kept them long enough to see this, but unacceptable none the less, clearly an issue with their single stage paint that they refuse to address, if you're lucky under warranty they'll fix, outside your screwed, makes no sense.

yep 2018 super white here as well and the clear coat on my hood and grill surround is starting to chip off at 50k. i don't mind it much since the truck is constantly dirty but if i ever buy another toyota vehicle i probably won't go with white.

Curious, how often did you/white tacoma owners with issues wax? I know white is an issue, not trying to place blame... But, how many times did you wax? Asking for my 2 friends with 3rd gen white tacomas.

Thought BBM was a failing clear coat issue, this is just straight up paint chipping off which makes sense, white is a single stage, BBM is not. But yes both have had widespread issues.

This is a known problem on White Toyotas. Toyota will have it corrected for you, but it is a pain to get them to do it.
A friend had the same on his white Corolla - they ended up painting the whole car after initially only paining the affected areas, just to come back when the next panel started peeling.

Exactly, not a UV / contaminate issue, its a paint issue.

Likely not a paint issue but an adhesion issue to the sealer underneath.

There's several who do and that's OK. That's like me going to a Chevy forum to talk shit. Why. No life except on line.

I would think that it would then carry over to all the other colors if its the sealer, not my specialty besides knowing its single stage and this issue is across multiple models and prior gen tacomas as well, so can't speak an expertise to it.
