Anyone else had this issue on a 2016+ taco? TRD Off Road Prerunner. Mostly parked in driveway, but not under any trees.

That’s the bed rail, there’s no clear coat on it. Take it off, clean it up and spray it with some black spray paint. Others have done similar.

    I'd sand and paint.

There’s such a thing as a 2016 TRD OR Prerunner? I don’t think so. Anyway, my 2016 OR has no signs of flaking or even cracking in that area. Spends most of the hot day parked out in the sun at my jobs parking lot.

The sun and heat take no prisoners!! Take note and use tire shine or aerospace 303 to give it some protection.

Otherwise yea take it off and paint it. Buy some trim restorer to redo all your plastic trimmings.

Almost certainly bird shit that sped up the oxidation of the paint. I know some of you guys think a truck doesn't need to be washed and waxed but it does if you don't want that to happen.

Mine is starting to do that where I’ve scratched the paint. It is an aluminum rail, and the aluminum is corroding where the paint has been compromised causing the paint near the scratch to bubble and flake like that. Mine isn’t that bad yet, I did touch it up when I noticed it, but I really need to take it off, sand it and hit it with something that will stop the corrosion and paint it black again.

Pull it off, sand it down, and paint it. It wont cost but a few bucks, and you dont have to waste half a day at the dealer.

Yep, that spray on Rust oleum stuff would be perfect in there. It’s lightly textured and flatter than the aftermarket bedliner profucts like line X, rhino, etc.

Will give a more factory finish

That’s what I use on my powder coated armor. It works well.

Mine has it too. I was going to mask it all off and paint it in place, but if I can take it off that would be great. Anyone know how it comes off?

Is that lichen growing under the window gasket? That's not good if it is.
