I finally bit the bullet and bought a certifit scooped hood a couple weeks ago. I've received a few quotes on getting it painted and they have been outrageous! What should I expect to pay to get it painted. Anybody that's had their hood painted or has had similar work done please help!

$400-600 is what I've received so far.

Shok Industries 2/0 big 4 upgrade and sound deadener.
It's been my experience that you get what you pay for when it comes to paint. If you have a friend with a spray gun and knows what they are doing I'd go with that. I went to Maaco to get a quote on getting 2 doors repainted that I messed up, $600 for two doors because they have to use "factory material" but then he gave me the awesome offer of the WHOLE TRUCK for $700.

I would have guessed around $500 for a quality shop to do it.

    completely stock
depends on the color. Radiant red would cost about 130$ just for the paint, plus reducer. Plus clear coat, and hardener. for rad red you need white base coat and the primer from the factory sucks so itd have to be sanded down and an acrylic primer under the white base coat. 400$ is about right for a hood.

Edit: i said rad red because red is the most expensive color

Thanks guys! I guess the quotes I've been receiving weren't so crazy after all! The guys getting their hoods done for $200-300 must've been "friend" prices!!
