I noticed this while waxing my truck. Seems to be areas on the hood that the pain was either chipped off or something but the clear coat was on after so it much have been there.

Is this worth having the dealer look into? The truck was bought new almost a year ago.

Is that under the clear? Or can it be clayed off? If it's under the clear coat. That's definitely a warranty issue.

It’s under the clear coat. That’s how I know I didn’t accidentally do it.

There's no way for you to get it under the clear. If take it in for sure if it was my truck.

That sucks. I'd definitely get it fixed, but just know that they may have a tough time matching it exactly, so you may see a slight color difference between the hood and body.

Dropped off at dealer for this issue and the trans shifting nightmare. Hopefully I’ll get news soon. In the meantime cruising around in a CH-R.

Boy, that's a tough call. If it's on top of the paint (not in the paint) then they could sand down the clear coat and then re-clear coat. If it's in the paint then it's a repaint of the hood and some will say that the paint won't match the rest of the truck. Seeing how you didn't notice this for a year can you live with it now that you know it's there?

Dealer called and stated their regional manager looked it over, dunno bout all that but they gave me some options. I can either keep it as is or have the hood repainted. It’s not going to be factory paint he said it’ll be what they have to do it with so sounds like it not gonna match.

I’d rather they just throw that money towards the predator steps :D.

As it stands now guess I’ll just keep it since I don’t want it looking off from different colors.

shops are pretty good about color matching. my only concern is in a couple of weeks time you gonna get a paint chip from rock or something.

i would just live with it. but not my truck

Little bit of this and a little bit of that but stock af.
What is the limitations on paint warranty? I see lots of blemishes from painting(like dust or rock particles) in paint. Is this something to even bother with?

    I would fix it.
If there are paint flaws on a metal panel it increases the chances of failure on that area leading to rusting.

If you didn’t want to worry about having a hard time matching paint you shouldn’t have bought silver LOL. Literally the worst color to match.

Your truck is a year old. The truck will be the easiest to match now. Especially because the remainder of the panels can be buffed to help match.
