I’ve noticed I have a few random areas of my truck that are gritty to the touch. It looks like a pimple actually. All of them are the size of a pencil tip

I have 3 or 4 of these throughout various areas. Does anyone else have these? One of them is under the clear coat and is smooth. The others are gritty and can’t be removed with a clay bar.

Common. I’ve seen it on many Toyota models. My Tacoma has a few of those throughout the paint. My friend has a 19 Tundra and it’s spread out on the side of bed.

Hard to tell, but just looks like trash in the paint. Very common across all manufacturers. You could probably get them to re spray the areas....... but then your truck has been painted on. Not a good trade at all imo. There is no such thing as a perfect paint job.

Good luck with the paint correction Inverted, for what I assume you paid, I hope you find an adequate solution.

Stupid question, but do you have a clear bra in these areas? The photo isn't clear, but it almost looks like you can see the clear bra termination line.

    Stuff stuck under the bra?

Fact is nothing is ever going to be perfect period. This goes for anything and everything so if all you have is these tiny/small ass specs you should consider yourself lucky! If you are this worried about a couple small spots, I implore you to go up in the attic of your house and get ready to explode or even inspect your exterior paint job (it can be good/near perfect but I guarantee you you’ll find imperfections). You paid/pay more for your home than this truck. Food for thought

How close did you have to get to take the picture? Did you have to zoom in too? Don’t get me wrong, my ocd is bad and up there but there literally has to be a line you draw.

Very true, no paint job is perfect, however I've purchased 3 new vehicles from different manufacturer's over the last two years and examined hundred's in the process and paint defects to his degree on a new vehicle is not very common across all manufacturers. The paint on my '18 TRD Sport isn't perfect, but pretty dame good.

Yes, I too have been over hundreds if not thousands of cars over the years polishing paint. I have seen it pretty evenly spread across the manufacturers. My 2017 cement TRD pro that was built here in Texas has a couple of small issues. 95% of people would never be able to find them, but I can see em lol. I don't let it bother me, because like I mentioned, I have seen so many with trash or other small issues from the manufacturer process. Nothing really that would cause an issue, purely cosmetic.

We had a CTS-v way back in the day that had a lot of contaminants in the base coat. I'm a GM guy right after toyota but they seem to have this problem pretty regular. I'd keep it over the horrible orange peel I see in most ford and dodges though lol (those have gotten better lately.) Personally, I'd rather see someone avoid a re paint for such a small defect. It is all personal preference though.

Thanks for the responses. Not planning a repaint. I use this for Offroading a few times a year and hunting. Was just curious. No one can see them but me, wife thinks my OCD is off the charts

I'm a GM guy after Toyota as well. Some C7s have pretty bad orange peel, but my finish is really nice. Of course silver is fairly forgiving as far as showing defects.

Beautiful car! Yes silver is good about not showing defects as bad.

I've noticed the same on my truck including very uneven color on the passenger front door panel. Brought it to my best friend who owns a body shop to see if it was hit and repaired. he said nope, and it's not uncommon. Manufacturers try to save money here and there. While anecdotal, he told me about quite a few toyotas that didn't even have the door jams painted- at all! just primed. and no the cars weren't in any accidents.
i've probably owned over 100 vehicles (i'm 40 but have been buying and selling cars since i was 15. minus 4 years in the Marines), mostly german, many land rovers, few Japanese and even fewer American. I've never seen such crappy quality paint on any vehicle i've owned. If I compared it to the paint on a mk2 vw, this paint fails in all aspects of quality. However, ALL of that being said, it really doesn't matter- because the resale will remain and hardly anyone will ever notice it. but I can't unsee it, and this is an unacceptable quality control issue in my opinion.

So by chance, a Voodoo blue Tundra was sitting out front of my local Cabela’s today (on display). I went to the corner of the hood (drivers side , near the windshield). Low and behold, there was imperfections there, just like my truck has. I couldn’t believe the same imperfection, in the same spot

Toyota and every other major manufacturer have been held at gun point by mentally-ill, fully retarded automotive regulation&legislation that has backed them into a corner as far as large quantity-chemical use goes (the type paint falls under).
Thus as we force them to comply with 'green' legislation, they will have to compromise in areas like paint, that rely upon certain chemical properties as a reality of good quality paint.
LOL someday they may just all come "wrapped" from the factory, and paint will be a forgone relic of the past.
