Today I noticed these brown spots while washing the truck. I thought maybe something kicked up. I hit them with a clay bar and some me swirl and haze followed up with a machine polish, and the are unfazed. Also noticed this blue stuff on the plastic in front of the wheels wells. Again the clay did not take it off. I’m thinking this stuff is under the paint some how? Anyone else experience this with the quicksand? Suggestions?

It seems like you put to much pressure into the polish machine. I never machine polish a brand new car nonetheless clay bar it, I always hand wax it. It seems like you burned the paint a little, you can see some residue on top of the clear protective sticker. upload_2018-5-12_15-1-6.jpg

Ya I didn’t burn through it. That’s the dust from the pad. Wipes off.

a clay bar WILL NOT remove paint. period. to burn thru paint you need a high speed buffer and aggressive compound. that is not what the OP has done here. while I can't really say for sure what that is on his paint, it is not burnt thru. the spots actually look like tire dressing that has slung off and stained the paint. I have seen this many times on white vehicles, especially Toyotas. but I didn't think the Quicksand would do that. I could be wrong, but that is my educated guess as to what it is. I used to detail for my local Toyo dealer a long time ago and we saw this all the time on white cars...

Dude, I just read an 8 page thread on tire shine staining Toyota paint. Been using the same chemical guys dressing for 4yrs and never had this happen. Luckily it’s on the flares only. Having a detailer look at it. He suggested an iron remover and a heavier compound. Might require a respray

unless you have iron remover already, don't waste your time and money with it. it won't do anything for those spots. that, I can promise you. that is not iron deposits or chemical fallout. at least the way the pics make the spots look it isn't. it looks like blue stains from the pics you posted. that is what lead me to think maybe a tire dressing stain. have you had someone detail your truck lately besides you? maybe they used a different dressing? it could be anything honestly. but it is not iron deposits.

I think I remember members reporting that the tire shine spots faded over time until they were almost impossible to see. I could be mistaken. Maybe wait before painting?? Although the fender flair would be a pretty easy and safe respray if it comes to that.

I have some iron remover already for the wheels. I’m the only one that details my truck. I thought the stains were pop or something I may have rolled over on the road. I hope they fade out!

Thanks. Im interested in running those since we get so much snow here. Are those the E-rated versions? Sorry to hijack your thread. How do they ride?

Not E rated. Truck is a highway princess. I love em. Had them on my 4Runner. Ride great. Quiet. Great in snow. Oh and they’re cheap.
