Got verbal quotes from two local paint shops on color matching a white Leer shell in excellent shape to match my new to me 2013 Spruce Mica taco.
One shop said appx $700, and that they strip it down and actually have a glass guy come out and completely remove the windows prior and then he returns and reinstalls afterwards.
The second shop said they'll just scuff it up good for tooth since it's in such good shape. They'll also just mask the windows, as they don't want to break the seals. In addition, he said he'd want the gas cap door to ensure a better match. He quoted appx $4-500.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks!

    Joe

I guess that depends on where you're from. The shops around here in the Bay Area all have the color codes in their systems so there's no guessing if the color will turn out right. The price for a Maaco around here would probably be between 2-500 depending on the quality you want, I do know that some will just do one clear coat where as others will do a couple more coats. How do i know? My friend had his whole car repainted at Maaco and they put only one coat of clear and it started to flake off after a couple months, might have been a bad prep job but yea, you get what you pay for usually.

Do either one of the shops warranty their work?

I would be more inclined to go with the cheaper guys since I really don't think window removal is necessary for a top. I mean we aren't repainting a classic muscle car here, it's a cap. It doesn't need to be perfect, just needs to match and hold up well over time by preventing rust or chipping. So if the cheaper guy will warranty the work for a couple of years, I'd go with them.
