Every time it gets worse call the dealer again. And bug the shit out of them is what I did. So take that for what it’s worth

i just sent my truck in to the dealer. all my metal panels on my truck are peeling/flaking. they did tape test and confirmed it. my service advisior filled a claim with corporate and it got approved. they are repainting my whole truck and are only painting the metal panels. they aren't paining the plastic pieces. they also gave me a 2021 tacoma for a loaner as well.

So what was the process that you went through. So far mine is only the inner jams where the fender and good meets

mines actually started on the inside fenders as well. i had my service due and i told my service advisor about the paint. he then tells me a lot of the super white has been having problems. he then tells me to bring it by so the body shop can take a look. because a lot of corollas has been having the same problem. he then filled a claim with corporate and it got approved.

ahh. ya im well over the 36k or 3yrs, tried 2 dealers and they all denied it.
i guess im gonna get the touch up paint and hit it so it don't spread more and get rust......

after feeling the paint. it does feel skimpy and thin vs my GX460 which is much thicker pearl white......smh at them cutting corners

I just got the same deal on my 2017, right rear door is peeling in the same exact spot, it was raining the other day and I heard something hit the body of my truck and a week later I see my paint peeling off, it looks like there's literally one layer of paint and it's not even primered. I think past this point I just wanna stick with driving my Ram 2500 diesel now, the trucks been through hell and still looks pretty and doesn't have as many problems as my 17 yota.

I guess we just gotta deal with it until there's an actual recall for the white color. I guess maybe touch up paint do it don't spread more?

I just looked up touch up paint before posting about this. How ironic before I even look up the product to fix it I find the thread regarding this. It must be a bigger problem than the timing cover gasket leaks these trucks have but I highly doubt it. I really don't mean to bash 3rd gen tacos but honestly after owning so many older 1st and 2nd gens I'm really surprised Toyota shit on the third gens. I'm over it man Im going to start looking into selling my rig and getting something else. Even after being a longtime Toyota fan.

This is a Super White problem, not a 3G problem.

Yes, I know however my 3rd gen has other issues rather than just the white paint now peeling

Saw a gen3 bright white tacoma parked next to mine yesterday while grocery shopping when i came out. Walking up to the truck it was the biggest pos for a newer vehicle i've seen i awhile. The paint was peeling off on every section of the truck with major rust you could see on the frame. It definitely didn't speak well for toyota.

I know it's small but it's starting to get bigger.. I also have little tiny spots on my bumper and on the body that are coming off as well. Ive washed, sometimes waxed, and always garaged my truck since I've had it

My 17 looks exactly like this. Also under the hood on the fenders. Such a bummer. Truck has been solid otherwise.

Just called the dealer on this same issue and they said it is a known issue with the Corollas and several Tacomas with paint code 040. I have a 2017 TRD OR DC and have an appointment this week. Thanks for this thread!

What did they do to help? Do they take care of it themselves or give you a bottle of touch up?
