Yes, don't paint it yet. I have a strong suspicion there are other areas that will develop if it's developed there. Mine is missing paint as of about 3 weeks ago in that exact spot, plus the other side same spot, plus multiple spots inside the hood on the front quarter panel. so lame of toyota to not respond to this...

I've seen this issue for years.

My Tundra has had no issues. Which is odd as both Tacoma and Tundra were built at the same plant at this time.

I thought the Tundra was built somewhere in the South and the Tacoma built in Mexico...

Both in San Antonio for the years that have been having this issue.

I think Tacoma's are now in Mex for the 2022 model year? Maybe some 2021's?

Do not paint it. My 2014 is doing it on both front fenders under the hood where it bolts. I went to the dealership that initially painted my 2 passenger doors as “good faith” for free. They are aware of the issue and the service writer said there is another “campaign” for paint issues and it is going to include super white, blizzard Pearl white, and one of the blue colors.

That would be awesome if it turns out to be true. Great news for all those unfortunately stuck with paint issues.

If it's not happening unilaterally across all vehicle makes using the same paint formula and painting process,

then it's something in the prep or the methodology of how they're laying the paint.

Say they're not putting the time / labor into cleaning panels before the booth,

or in the case of a tacoma of cheaper vehicle their factory spec is a thinner coating and thinner primer / base coat, those would explain the failure on certain models and not others.

it's peculiar for sure, made me walk on a Super white I had initially ordered and go CSM.

Definitely thinner coats. Service manger went around my entire truck at measured many locations. Wrote them all down and where mine was peeling (back window drivers side) was the thinnest.

I just found my driver side rear door is peeling at the window seal. Exact same as everyone else here, with green under coat.

I started a search for this in hopes that there was a TSB as I have seen others complain of this exact issue. I guess I might be getting screwed by yet another car manufacturer/dealer for shitty workmanship. Honestly thought better of Toyota.

I am going to see if they will cover the repair though. Give them the benefit of the doubt before I get all pissy.

If enough people complain they will cover it. If not try and find enough people to call and email corporate help line. AGM had the same paint problems and eventually gave in. Also I have a super with 21 tacoma hopefully it doesn’t peel but I manage a body shop anyway. Also found this. Doesn’t list tacoma that I saw but many others in white. Says they extended paint warranty to cover peeling issue.

It's a primer adhesion issue. But not all rigs are effected. My 7 year old 100k mile rig is fine.

I've had this ongoing for the last year or so. Mine has occurred in the fender location, on my roof where it meets the windshield, and multiple locations on my rear doors. Reading how some people have had this issue fixed to a degree with their dealership gave me hope to call my dealer again (North Florida) and they told me to bring it by. Hopefully, I can report back and leave this sub for good.:fingerscrossed:
