Make the call to toyota corporate so that they have more records on file. They may extend the recall to tacomas if enough complaints come in

Damn that shit ain’t right. My wife owns a Mercedes and they been excellent to her so far. I have been a Tacoma fan since 2001 and this is my 3rd Tacoma and probably my last if they don’t make things right. My last two Tacoma’s were white also and they lasted past 100K miles with no issues. They ran like champions lol can’t believe the newest Tacoma I have ever purchased is falling apart already.

I was told it’s all Toyota’s in white and Tacoma’s are not approved yet for the recall but they are working on it. As far as where they were made I don’t know. I would keep an eye on your taco especially near the window seems. Seems like that’s where the issues are.

I have 2017 TRD Off road in super white that has paint delaminating from base near rear windows on both sides, same as pics. If I buffed it huge chunks would come right off. Took it in to body shop and he told me to check here and with Toyota first. Pacific Coast Auto body in Moorpark. He could have just taken the job and $$. A+ honest shop that does great work.

Well there are NHTSA recalls for safety but the mfg can comp whatever they want. I used to have a Mazda that had a dash warp issue due to the sun that was prominent enough for the mfg to cover it. I think that's what you were referring to though.

Glad I found this forum. Just went my second round and lost with Toyota International. Last year (exactly a calendar year) I noticed flaking starting around my passenger rear/driver rear door windows and oddly, the frame rails inside the engine compartment. I felt this aspect blew a hole into their sun exposure excuse and points directly to needing to be including in the recall. Anyways, after losing my mind and hounding anyone I could talk to I got someone in the Customer Experience Advocacy department to agree to paint the vehicle. I initially went through a Toyota dealership and they were aware of the issue, but at the time hand not seen many Tacomas comparted to other models. Fast forward a year and new spots have popped up, as well as one of the spots that was painted the last time. Roof, doors, A-posts, and tail gate on this go around. This is in addition to the fact that the clear coat on this truck is progressively disappearing. This is my second Tacoma. I traded in the 07' Tacoma with a large paint patch missing on the hood to the dealership when I purchased this one. I had the roof painted prior to trading it in. Was in between work at the time and was only able to afford to paint one section at a time. Luck changed and I got a great trade in price. So when within 4 years (actually the month I paid it off) I started to see paint peel off this truck, the nightmare began again. Last week I was told by the same department that approved painting the vehicle the last time as a courtesy and it was a one time thing. Even the warranty manager at the dealership I went through previously was confused by this since they approved it last time and as he put it, "they know this is a problem." I was left with an answer of they wouldn't be paying for the repair and if I was to get a paint job, save the receipts and they would reimburse me if it became a part of the extended warranty program that is currently available. Full Disclosure - don't expect to get reimbursed if you paint your entire vehicle unless you can prove their was paint coming off of ever single panel painted. I was explicitly told this. Take good pictures and have whatever shop you go to detail the extent of the peeling. This is just a pressure campaign to make good vehicle owners who don't want to see their investment rot, cave in, and get the paint job and correction on their own. My guess is they will nickel and dime the quote you send them and reimbursement less than 50%. Maybe I'm still just pissed about the whole situation. I live in South Florida and know it wont take long for the wonderful salt air to start to do it's work on the exposed portions of the frame. I live in the city I work and have a 5 min drive. I have less than 30k miles on a truck that is 5 years old. Sadly, this is the straw that broke the camels back with me. I will most likely get a paint job on it, enjoy it a few more years and never purchase a Toyota product ever again. I should have known better when they were pushing the paint protection package when I bought it. Going to upload some pictures when I get a chance since the Manager who did the paint quote pointed out a few spots in which I didn't even notice. I have sections in various stages from beginning to fully peeled.
