Paint problem

I have repainted 3 panels on my 2013 gray Tocoma due to badly fading paint> top, hood, rear quarter panel. Is there a Toyota recall for this problem? The next move is to paint the entire truck.

 

040 3rd gens from Mexico, yes. 2nd gen, no.

 

2015 MGM , truck is kept outside and I live in a salt state and no problems with paint. I do keep it washed , waxed and undercoated and no problems with the paint peeling or fading or the chassis rusting.

 

All 2Gens parked outside in sun all the time have clear coat issues at some point - yes on all horizontal facing surfaces like hood, roof, top of flares, under the door windows and no TSB or recall except issues with the white and not sure what became of that but would guess not much. Full paint job with lifetime warranty around 8K base and clear and then my 09 was a real mess and I'm cheap so Maaco has it now and a single stage full paint with no big body work is costing me 2400. Rates run all over the cost spectrum so depends on what you want to pay and the quality you want - mine is 14 years old.

 

I own a 2007, I have both clear coat and Top coat issues. The paint problem started in the door Jams (looked like there was and issue with adhesion between the Primer coat and top coat) that problem has now spread to the middle of the hood and top of the cabin.

 

My 040 second gen flaked like snow on a New England winter’s day. After being religiously cared for. Many others with the same problem.

 

Yep. Pretty well known problem for years now.

Op asked if there was an open service campaign for fixing paint on 2nd gens, There’s not.

There is a service campaign to correct paint on specific year 040 3rd gens made in Mexico.

Not really sure what your point is.
