I had the dealer install the Toyota starshield paint protection film on Friday, no charge, as negotiated in at the sale. There are a few bubbles and wrinkles showing in the hood film and the service advisor said to not wash it or anything for a week and the bubbles and wrinkles will go away in a few days. I'm not buying it. Those bubbles and wrinkles look exactly the same this afternoon, day 3, as they did Friday afternoon. Should I wait the week or complain already?

Also.. the dealer brought in an outside company to install it since they don't have anyone qualified to install them.

paint protection film will damage your paint by the time it yellows and you decide to take it off to get a new one on.

I've researched it a lot and I'll take my chances vs a sandblasted front end

My wife just got a new subaru sti and had this film put on the front end. There are no bubbles or wrinkles in the film. He did mention that if we saw and small bubbles that they would dissapear. It didnt have any though so I dont know. Its looks so good you have no idea its there.

This new film is warrantied from yellowing. Its also self healing. You can litterally scratch it with a knife and it will reseal itself.

I had my gt4 wrapped in Xpel ultimate.. Now if the protectant wrapped they used is a good quality one it won't mess up your paint and the film will not turn yellow. As far as the bubbles and creases, the air bubbles may come out once the wrap has some time to be in the sun and cure. If the bubbles don't come out take it back to the dealership and have them re do it again. Tell them your not happy with the way it came out. Usually the shops that do the paint protectant wraps for the dealerships just hurry through the job and don't take the time to actually lay the warp down right... It's good to go to a reputable shop to have something like this done.. But keep a eye on it. But I would take it back and make them do it again if your not happy.

We install alot of that in our shop along with full wraps. We use a film from Oracal called Stone Gaurd. It is self healing as the above member said. The bubbles will come out once the vehicle is in the heat for a while. The installer should have not had any bubbles or wrinkles in it. The wrinkles will not come out until it is replaced. The member above that mentioned about it damaging the paint is wrong. The clear vinyl not only helps from physical damage to the paint but it has a UV protectant in it to keep the paint from changing colors or fading. If the film does turn yellow, that film is a low quality film. If the dealer gives you a hard time, I would be more than happy to send you the information of the products we use. The wrinkles will not come out but, the bubbles should.

Good films do NOT have UV protectant in them. You want the paint under the film to fade the same way the rest of the vehicle does.
