About to finalize the last details on my new truck. Dealer is offering clear paint protection in two protection levels. Just want feedback on price and opinions about if its worth it.

Level 1 partially covers front, hood, and fenders back to about the begining of the front tires. Price = $800
Level 2 completely covers Front, hood, and fenders. Price = $1350

    Thanks in advance.

I would say no and take it somewhere afterwards, wouldn't cost as much and probably find a better installer also. They do make a clear plastidip.......

    Fresh gas.
Definitely take it somewhere else that uses a good brand of film. Xpel, 3M or Suntek.
I got everything painted forward of my doors covered as well as my rocker panels all the way to the back of the truck for about $1600 CAN. These guys make their living doing this stuff, and they stand behind their work and their product. The dealership already has your money, they'll probably do a sub-par job. At least that was my line of thinking.

Put that $1350 towards your next truck. Wax your truck a couple times a year.

If you’re a little handy, you can buy a kit for $250-$350 and do it yourself. Instructions on YouTube.

I can understand wanting to keep your new car shiney. Remember it is a Tacoma, not a Maserari. There are 20k new Tacomas on the road each month, and millions already existing. Probably not worth the money to keep it immaculate since it will never be in the discussion as a collector item. Cars have become appliances in modern society.

This is what I'm going to do with mine. 3M pro full kit for $300 and a couple hours in the garage. Can't see spending a grand on labor for putting on a glorified decal.

I though paint protection was just where the dealer waxed it.

Dealer, "while we delay your paperwork for no apparent reason, please bend over so we can discuss how to increase our profits."

ETA I bought my all weather mats from the parts dept for less than the sales dept. I bought the same exact bedrug for about $100 less from Amazon. Got all my windows tinted for less than just the front two at the dealer.

For that money I'd ceramic coat....best option out there. Truck is always clean...just my opinion.

Isn’t that a $400 factory option? I got it done at a local tint shop for $700.

I'll second the ceramic coat. I put that stuff on everything; windshield, lights, wheels. I also have a 2003 4runner and people are always commenting on how good it looks to my wife. It hasn't spent one day in a garage. I do it myself, but you can find a good detailer that does a good job.

It's easy to put on, but like many things, the prep work is critical to having long lasting protection.
