Just picked up a 2021 sport and looking over the paint the bumpers and fenders appear to be quite a bit different. There’s a def orange peel look and less clear coat it appears on the bumpers and fender flares. Is this normal for the Tacoma’s? Thank you

Very similar to mine, although yours seems more pronounced. That’s just how they are it seems. Bumpers and sheet metal use different paints, more flex additive

Different materials being painted. The plastic bumper seems to have a slight texture which will obviously differ from the metal sheet metal/body.

    Normal imo

I appreciate it guys. I assumed this was the case and not some gross abnormality on their painting job. I appreciate the input

Painter here. Bumpers have texture that’s what’s Telegraphing through finish. Normal

The lower panels of the doors and fender that appear to be orange peel is because it is suppose to be more abrasive resistant. It to provide some protection against slinging rocks from your tires when off roading, to avoid paint chips and such.

Edit: It is very pronounced on my Taco

Rocker texture down low. Chip guard etc.

My 2020 MGM has at least 3 places where there are dark gray, almost black, "blobs" in the paint about the size of BB on outside panels on either side of the bed. I bought the truck used, so I didn't spend a lot of time inspecting the paint. At first, thought they might be road tar, or other debris but it is definitely under the clear and my guess something to do with the metallic paint....almost like paint got clogged in the sprayer and some small clumps got shot out. I guess my point is pretty much any assembly line produced vehicle is likely going to have paint flaws.

You can polish with a little compound and polish then wax would look a little better if it bothers you but as stated above the bumpers have texture

different materials take paint differently apparently. My flares look a little different then the rest of the paint on my truck

Normal. Can't say for the fender flares since mine aren't painted, but my front bumper appears textured. It's plastic though and I kind of figured it was done by design.

I believe what you're referring to on the side panels is actually a 3M material below the paint. The 4Runner also has it.
