Well that's depending on the quality of paint job your getting. On the trade in I only lost around 3k. A good quality paint job will cost 5-6k+

    Nothing worthy
Consider too though all the parts that've been purchased, shipping, time, labour, etc.

Too each their own. It is more important that both of you with opposing views are actually washing the vehicle by hand then in which direction you complete the process. Personally I think either works well and it is more important to just get the grainy stuff off first before you touch the truck, regardless of which direction you choose to go. Also, I am surprised no one has mentioned the use of a foam cannon to coat the vehicle and soften the dirt. I knew going in that part of the maintenance of the truck was going to be washing a little more often and a little more effort to take care of the inevitable slight scratches. But I also have the tools to take care of that problem. Some people eat all of each item on their plate before moving onto the next. Some mix it all together. Both enjoy the meal.

Try Menzerna FG400. You might be converted. Also check out detailersdomain.com. Phil Yiu has a great blog on the site where he explains the specifics of the detailing process for various vehicles. If you enjoy detailing the site is a wealth of knowledge in regards to product performance.

Wash your truck like you wash yourself, top down! Menzerna polish and compounds are the best and id definitely recommend detailers domain. Stay away from autogeek they screwed me over a couple times after spending thousands with them, they could give a shit about there customers.

I take my white truck through the car wash tunnel just like every other white vehicle I've ever owned. Looks great every time. Maybe have someone throw a coat of wax on it every 6 months. When I sell my vehicles they always go for top dollar the paint and body looks just great as long as it's never wrecked. Just because I off road and use it for hunting doesn't mean I have to beat on it. But I also don't have any qualms with admitting it isn't a Ferrari ...and I don't take it too seriously.

Prices vary from shop to shop, also what coating you choose affects the cost.. Ceramic Pro has a couple different options. I have a lifetime coating on 1 car, and a 5 year coating on my Tacoma and my wife's car. There are a couple other options available that are less expensive. But like everything else, you get what you pay for.

The 5 year coating runs roughly $1200. That price should
include paint correction. The cost is in the correction. It takes many hours to correct black paint properly. The shop should have your truck for a few days to do the job right. Depending on your negotiating skills you may be able to work other items into the price. Like wheels and glass(everything can be coating). Wheels are a must. Makes cleaning them a breeze. Actually, the whole truck will be a breeze to clean!

How about a vinyl wrap? It would be cheaper than line-x. Someone posted a picture of a truck vinyl wrapped in camo, actually looked pretty cool.

It don't last as long in the heat and humidity as Line - X would. Someone said on here wrap lasted 4 to 5 years. I bet it is less than that unless you park in a garage.

Wow...$1,200 to keep black paint from scratching is pretty steep in my book. But we all do what make us happy.

Everyone should own one black vehicle..... so they know not to buy one again!

Do as I say, not as I do... 5th black truck in a row. Nothing finer when they are clean!
