Just had a quart can of valspar bonding primer spill in the bed. I think I got lucky because none of it made it to the tailgate and out to the paint, or to the drain holes in front. Wiped it up with a towel and got rid of the can. In the midst of the drive in to work, the can rolled in a turn and popped open.

How do I clean this up without fucking up the truck? I assume this will never look the same. At least it is latex primer.

Try a power washer before it dries. I think there’s more of a chance since it’s latex and not oil based

I agree, pressure washing should remove latex. At least it didn't happen on Monday....

I’m thinking also if you have access to a hot faucet or mix valve, use warm water and put some dawn detergent down to help

If you go the pressure washer route, be mindful of the splashing of the ‘painty’ water if it goes out of the bed and onto the truck paint. Just rinse it immediately so it doesn’t cake on

Just got to work on base, there is one of those self serve car wash stations here so off I go, good suggestion, they have the power wash setting. I figure after that I will put paint thinner on it and use a stiff nylon brush. Didn’t want any runoff to screw up the truck paint though.

Yeah this is making me rethink the pressure washing....I can see some unintended consequences....I’ve wiped it up pretty well with the towel, think I will just leave it, scrape up what I can later and then go with paint thinner and brush after that.

Paint thinner won’t work on latex and will destroy your cars paint if it touches it. I would avoid that

I would still do pressure washing. Just before you put the wand away do a pass on the car and you will be fine. Pair up with the nylon brush and scrub with soap and hit with water and keep alternating until it’s gone

It's not going to all come off, have the bed floor rhino lined.

It's much better anyways to keep stuff from sliding around.

I think my only concern other than aesthetics is what’s left transferring to anything I put in the bed. Why did it have to be primer dammit? Just plain latex paint would peel off like a dream most likely.

Is there any chemical at all I should use? Or just detergent and elbow grease.

You could try rubbing goof off or goo gone, but stay away from thinner or other solvents. Not good for plastic. I would bed line if it came to it

Paint *thinner* won't hurt paint that's already dried/hardened.
But you are correct that it won't help with latex.

OP: Flowing water, soap, scrub brush.
    If it leaves some, then there *may* be another option, but you have to be very careful with it;
Paint *stripper* will be able to take off dried/hardened paint, HOWEVER, you will need to test it out on the bed surface to make sure that it doesn't actually eat the truck bed.

If paint stripper can be used without harming the truck bed, then apply with a brush, then wipe it off with a cloth, do not let the stuff pour off the back of the truck since you will wreck the paint back there. Once its wiped off, then you use lots of dish soap and a scrub brush to wash off the paint stripper.

Try denatured alcohol to soften it up. Then use a plastic scraper.

Scrub with the hottest water you can stand. Use a little Dawn dish soap too. Anything left, hit with some Purple Power, Simple Green, Super Clean etc. Keep it wet, don't let it dry. Scrub more if needed. Hot water is your friend. Being latex, I'd be very surprised if any trace remains.
