Just updating the status of the mysterious stain on my hood.I went to a body shop and a detail shop, both said the hood needed to be repainted. I was going to have the body shop paint my hood instead of going to the dealer. I thought paying $300 to a body shop that I knew would do a good job was wothr peace of mind. The dealer told me a Toyota Rep had to authorize all paint work, which meant I had to go back when he was available. All of you said to take it to the dealer and get it documented. I took your advice and went to the dealer. They sent me to the body shop that does their work and they said the hood needed painting. I went back to the dealer and fortunatly there was a rep there. He said he would authorized repainting the hood. He just wanted to try a heat gun on it. He thought the stain was from the wrap gurad. 2 hours later the stain was gone. ThanksDSC00126.jpg

Happy that worked out for you! Guess my question would be why the dealer left it on to begin with. No dealer prep or cleanup was done on your truck? Sounds like Toyota needs to look further at this dealership.

Toyota actually has had some paint problems recently because of the wrap guard

In all fairness to the dealer I did not notice it for almost 2 months that I had the truck. I put new flouresant lights in my garage 2 weeks ago. When I pulled the truck in and turned on the lights I saw it. It was hardly noticeable unless it was in the direct sunlight. I am just happy I did not have to repaint the hood. Thanks

    What's the 'wrap guard'?

Glad it worked out. Having the hood repainted can be a gamble if the color is matched perfectly.
