    Can anyone tell me if my 2014 Pyrite Mica has a clear coat? Or is it a single stage paint???

    Thanks- I was thinking the same thing, but someone on here last week said all the Tacoma metallic's are single stage. And now I can't find the post...

    Never read that on here.

    Except one dude who thinks so.

    Everybody else has said metallics are two stage, non metallics are single.


    Maybe you're thinking of the same guy.

    Haha yeah I'm with you. I always thought the same thing. Then I read that bit last week and it made me second guess myself.

    I'm gonna polish in a couple weeks and thought I knew what I was dealing with. Then that kinda made me scratch my head.

    I painted my finder flares and used two stage. The color coat is flat.

    Just about all manufacturers use clearcoat, better UV protection.

    What do you mean by "the color coat is flat"? Is is the metallic flake in the clear?

    All Toyota Metallic and Pearl finishes are two stage. All of their flat colors are single stage.
