Those are fairly pricy compared to plastidip.20170105_094312.jpg

I know. I found them eventually. You could find a new bumper for what those plastic pieces cost! I think i will paint mine. I dont usually "dip" anything. Especially if I know i want it black.

Plastidip is that name of the can but its a spray can woth rubberized paint.. easier than regular spray paint and less messy. It also protects.

Always a consideration is finding someone with a black bumper who wants chrome and just swapping.

I created a thread a few weeks ago. Got no hits :(

I really LOVE @bski22 's Allpro aluminum powder coated bumper, but it's just too much for my needs.

I'm hoping he gives it to me eventually. LOL

Thats why plastidip is so good and it will last you years.. the key is to run bout 5-7 coats... it doesnt take long either.. its dummy proof.

Here is what happened with those covers you were talking about. Had that before I dipped. Recommend the plastidip over the covers

I thought they had 3M addhiessive tape to hold them in place?

The one on the left looks good.

I had it on my roof and hood to prevent my sun fade and it stays nice for about a month or two, then after that it flakes and peels badly and looks terrible. And at that stage it makes it a pain to remove.
    I'm trying vinyl wrap now.

They do. No lie, they do look good. But for the price they cost, not worth it knowing interstate driving can rip off them with the tape.

Not to sound like a dick but you must've done something wrong in the application stage or got bad product? I've fully dipped my whole cars before and they stayed in great shape for YEARS in the Tucson sun. Some of the NEON colors will sun fade rather quick though. The key with plastidip is a clean surface and apply many coats. If you don't apply many coats it will not peel all in one sheet (when you want to remove it) and will have a horrible tendency to flake and peel off. Again not trying to be a dick it just bothers me when people knock the product and I feel like it wasn't used to its full potential cuz it is quite awesome stuff for the DIYer on the cheap (but maybe your case was different).

No disrespect taken, just all my experiences were bad, nevada sun doesn't help.. (and I did do all of it correct, buying new dip for both projects, even re did the roof once before failing the product..)

I dipped my rear bumper about two years ago and it has held up for the most part, just the occasional touch up which is simple.
