Just spoke with someone at a local paint shop and he said enamel paints should get acrylic enamel clear and lacquer paints should get acrylic lacquer clear. This is done because of the chemical bonds that each type of paint has. Paints bond better with the same bases. I have sanded the grille down again and repainting it as we speak and will apply acrylic enamel clear later on. Its going to be 101 degrees here today so I have been painting and moving the grille indoors in the a/c to set up. :tumbleweed:

thanks. It'd be a lot better if I had a grillcraft and a color matched grille =P. Im about to start sanding right now and Im just waiting for my paint to come in later this week. Ill probably get my grillcraft in a month or two. Hows install on them? (grillcraft) You have to use a dremel to cut the center out right?

I got mine at the Autozone near Brookhurst & Lincoln (the 24hr autozone)

    yea, same supplier...different can.....

The paint not matching up kept buggin me though...i ended up buying paint off of automotivetouchup.com for about $25/can.... I'm defnitely gonna repaint it w/ the new paint....I've been busy/lazy...

In my case, the paint definitely did not match to my liking....

Others have told me its not that bad, but you know how it is...

When it's your truck every little thing stands out to you..
Im gonna give the automotivetouchup.com paint a try, im hoping a better match with this...We'll see....

Is it a better match than the ebay stuff? Have you repainted?

Did you use the one from Ebay or did you order it from elsewhere? Looks real good and I'm doing the same color.

+1 rep dude! Looks awesome. Would this method work for the chrome rear bumpers too? I've been trying to look for someone to trade my chrome bumper for a MGM bumper, but no luck. Anyway, I'll try this on my chrome grille too. Great write up and awesome results!
