Painted or chrome bumper for NON Sports with NO prem/tech package?

Before I bought my taco last month, I was under the impression that I would be getting a chrome rear bumper on my '17 DCSB Off-Road that did NOT come with the premium/tech package. It only came with the tow package plus some dealer installed add-ons. But as you can see in the picture below, I was pleasantly surprised to get a color-matched rear bumper!



So out of curiosity, those of you who do NOT have the TRD Sport package and also do NOT have the prem/tech package, what color bumper did you get?



I'm not sure if black is a choice for the rear, but I'll add it in just in case. Also, it might help if you comment on what model and packages your truck came with.

Nice! They must of thought it was a sport model at the factory and accidentally put a color keyed bumper on your TRD off Road.
Mine came with a chrome bumper but it doesn’t look that bad on MGM.

 

Now just rid of that v6 badge

 

Cxavier - Chrome bumpers don't look bad some some colors IMO, but orange isn't one of them, so I was certainly happy! lol But you're right, on MGM, the chrome fits it.

El Duderino - Servco treated me exceptionally well and they did it throughout the whole process! Now that I think back on it, it's really the first dealer that I can say that about. But I need that V6 badge to make sure everyone knows just how awesome the truck is under the massive hood!

 

My intention is to replace mine with a steel one.

 

Lucky you man, those chrome bumpers are nasty.

 

This has been mentioned a few times here on TW, it seems Hawaiian Off Roads get painted bumpers for some reason.

 

Looks like we have a couple with color-matched bumpers and even a vote for the black!

Post pics (cause all threads are worthless without pics...right?) or tell us what trim/options you had!

Seems to be the only place they don't have chrome, kind of. A weird lucky thing.

 

Wow, didn't know that was possible, but then again, we are all excluded from many things just cause it's Hawaii too...for example, we can't use the Entunes App on our phones here. Based on our VIN, we are not allowed to create an account so that we can use the app to update the radio's apps.

Weirdness all around.

 

Maybe chrome bumper caps are heavier than painted and less cost effective to ship

Anyone ever deployed to iraq will remember the "pogs" they give you instead of coins in order to save money when flying stuff over there.

 

Chrome bumper on my TRD OR pretty much base model.

 

I'm originally from the Virgin Islands, and we typically get "export" models there. I just checked thier website and sure enough, they also have painted bumpers on the Off Roads without the P&T package. Here is a Quicksand Off-Road from Toyota VI.

It is interesting they don't have chrome on export models.

Also I know what you mean about the entune, the Virgin Islands always misses out on things like that also, the price you pay to live in Paradise.

 

I just don't like servco because they have no competition here. They did good by me when buying the truck. Order December 28th 2015?got it Jan 7 2016. I cut a lot of people in line. It's the service that will piss you off. So many toyotas not enough service bays.

 

Painted looks 100X better imo.

 

Wow, maybe rlx02 is onto something with the weight thing...maybe the island dealers opted to save shipping costs as best they could.

I certainly remember those pogs!! Although they were lightweight and didn't jingle around, they definitely would not last long in your pockets.

 

Now it's hard not to look at all the bumpers around here to see which ones have what! lol There are definitely a few O/R's that have the color-matched...but there was some with the Chrome too. Maybe the chrome ones were bought somewhere else and then shipped here.

 

It's mostly just luck of the draw I've seen more OR's with chrome caps then painted.

 

Got my 17, when they first hit the lots last September. No premium and had the gay chrome bumper. Needless to say it wasn't long before I changed them out. I was told they used to offer them pre painted but they weren't available anymore that way, so I was told I had to get the black and paint them. Bought a quart of paint but one I got them on the guys at my shop said leave it. I actually like it with the black because it matches the fenders
