Sorry to be a pest. BTW i never said how AWESOME it looks, GOOD JOB! But, what grit sandpaper? Lol, I've never heard of tack cloth, what is it? And you sanded after paint was applied already? If so, why?

Lost track many, many mods ago.
Looks really good. I did this to mine not too too long ago and ever since then, all I have gotten were compliments on how great they looked. Congrats it really sets if off and take it to a whole new level of aggression in my opinion!!!

no worries.. i used 280 first...i think  i dont remember exactly.. sorry. but it was course. i diddnt sand hard, just a little bit to scuff it up a little. then after painting, i went over it with 2000 fine grit. this is what the guy at autozone recommended

So you had to wait for the paint to dry like an hour, THEN used the 2000.... cool. Same for the center caps? Anything you'd of done differently looking back?

I just started painting my wheel tonight. I took the advice posted earlier and didn't bother taping off. The tires look shitty now, hopefully it will peel off when it dries overnight. I'm using krylon flat black with rustoleum primer. It looks good so far...but I still have 2 wheels to go tomorrow.

The paint will peal off the wheels really easy. It might take a day or two but it will all come off no problem. For the sanding i used one of those green brillow pads. And that worked great. The center caps are plastic so you will need to paint those with krylon fusion paint. Something that really helped speed up the whole process is taking a heat gun or hair dryer and apply a coat and than hit it with the gun/hair dryer to help speed up the drying time. So instead of 20-30 mins between coats its more of 5-10 mins

What are you guys doing about the balance weights? Painting over them or removing them and having the wheels balanced again?

The wheels look great man!! I painted the wheels on my civic before I sold it. I've been wanting to do the same thing on the truck but didn't want to F-up the new truck. After seeing tacoskim's and MyToyTaco's I am gonna do it! Just gotta find the time!!
