probably a dumb idea- but I love the color on my 2018 Tacoma - Inferno. I'd like a 2022 but not crazy about the color selections. Anyone ever bought a new truck and then went and immediately had it painted? Thanks!

    I mean it’s your money.

Will hurt the resale value too so you’ll be paying twice. Especially judging by the fact you’re trading an ‘18 for a ‘22 I’m guessing you don’t hold onto vehicles very long.

there’s seriously not a single color oem option you like? You Could also wrap it instead of paint so you can go back to OEM when you sell it in 3 years.

I would say look at getting it wrapped over getting it painted.

A wrap will protect the factory paint job, then when you go to sell it you will have perfect paint.

If you have it done right? There is no reason why it can't be done. other than EXPENSIVE!!
Remove all the windows, moldings, the bed of the truck, headlights, grill, taillights, all hardware, fender flares, etc..... not to mention all the wiring in the engine bay! a complete color change is extensive to do it correctly.

But no reason it can't be done.

Okay, I'll be the lone wolf who encourages you to paint it. Here are some inspiration photo's/ideas:

I'm not thrilled with the silver I have, it's pretty ... I'd prefer a bright color, but I'd never pay to change colors. You're talking inside the engine pay, doors, wheel wells, etc.

Would probably be easier to add all the things you like from the 2021 to your 2018.
I love the Inferno color also! Wish they would bring it back!

I hope they never bring it back. I like being the only inferno in town.

can you build one online with the color you'd like? Dont see why it would be an issue to paint it after you buy it. Wrap might be cheaper?

my wife wants to trade her 2019 4R OR in for a 2022 in the lunar rock color.

I told her lets look at a wrap, and maybe wait for a real new 4R model.

It's likely to be a lot less expensive to have it wrapped than to have it painted. A lot less prep, doesn't need to be done in a paint booth by someone who knows how to paint, and if you decide to sell or trade it, you can remove the wrap with hair drier and then just have it detailed.

I could not disagree more, the clear and ONLY choice to be made is the driving while dumping paint scheme.
