I have been looking around for pictures of the hood scoop insert being painted and I see more close up pics than anything...I am trying to determine if black on silver will look like a vast empty hole on my hood. The plastic is ugly and oxidized so I need to do something to it or just get a replacement. I wanted something more unique than stock though. Any thoughts? Anyone ever seen one partially painted? Anyone have pics from a few angles? Right now am at the point of just going for it, worst case I hang my head in defeat and buy a new OEM one.

Paint it with plasti-dip.....if you don't like it, peel it off.

If you want something unique take out the insert and look into getting it hydro dipped or wrapped.

Do the grill/mesh part in pink like your front LP, and do the inside housing part in black for depth. Should be unique and slightly low-key. My 2 cents...

    Best...idea...ever!!!

Thanks for all the help, apparently I am not as creative as I thought! I'll upload pics once I do it.

Side note...just bought one of those behind the grille light mount bars, very excited as my homemade version vibrated like crazy and was well on its way to falling off...

    Woo!

Pretty easy I think. Just undo a few bolts/screws from the underside of the hood where it mounts.

Pretty interesting look. I would caution against anything other than amber or a dim white color as those are the only legal colors you can operate while on the road. I do like the look though!

I've had it like that for almost 8 years. It's for tailgating at Duck games. I know better than that;)

The green underneath is all good to drive with though. I leave hood scoop off because it moves back and forth (scans) and that doesn't fly so the hood scoop lights are turned on at games or wherever we park the beast:D

They let you drive with the green underglow? Lucky you man! Here in Alabama it is either white or amber. Any other color will get you pulled over FAST!
